To be honest BR is not totally to be blame for Liverpool's failing. The owners and the transfer committee should also be blamed. BR's reign started going downhill since they sold off LS . They failed to plan for a replacement for him. Liverpool became a selling club. Many good players were sold off just because their salaries were too high . FSG must realise that good players usually come with high price. But with good and experience players you would reap instant rewards. FSG were only interested in balancing their books. They don't know anything about running a football club like Liverpool FC. I really hope that FSG would choose the right manager who can bring Liverpool forward .

Tiagong Benders & Reus are unhappy at Dortmund and will be willing to join Klopp if he becomes Liverpool manager.

So I am hoping FSG appoints Klopp as the next manager..... buy 1 get 2 offer :D

News coming out from sources is that Liverpool is expecting to appoint Klopp by end of this week.
There is no rush as only a small group of players are reporting to Melwood due to the International break.
Sean O'Driscoll, Gary McAllister and Pep Lijnders took training on Tuesday.
Klopp is likely to bring his backroom staff which will consist of Zeljko Buvac and Peter Krawietz.

Actually what's the point of worrying about Coutinho or any other player wanting to leave Liverpool at this moment in time?

Let's get the new manager in first, hopefully Klopp, and let's see how things pan out till May16' and then deal with who wants to stay or go or get chucked out.

One of the key jobs for Klopp if appointed is to ensure Coutinho stays.
The representative of Coutinho said he is very happy in Liverpool and has not spoken to any team but as fans we know nothing is cast in stone.
However, I fear Klopp may not have much of an influence as he lost Gotze and Lewandowski under similar circumstances.
On a positive note he is a big fan of Firmino and Benteke.

I would really love to see the following players sold off :

1) Mgnolet
2) Lovren
3) Lallana
4) Balotteli
5) Allen

Give others a chance to play who did not have chance to play while BR was a manager.

Liverpool should only sell Coutinho for at least 60 million pounds.

I like his style very much!!!!!

New Liverpool manager has told his players in his first meeting today that the days of possession football are over.

According to Tony Barrett of The Times he made it clear to Liverpool players that they have to accept his methods, telling them this is not a proposal, it is law.

“Now we cannot talk about football philosophy and ball possession, playing like Barcelona, playing like whoever. No. This team needs to create their own style,” Klopp said.

“If you have the ball you have to be creative, but you have to be prepared that if you lose the ball the counter-pressing is very important."

“It is not a proposal, it is law. You cannot decide ‘um...’. You have to do it and you will. That is what we all have to learn, maybe. In these cases you can be different to other teams because they will all do their thing. I’m only interested in 100 per cent of each player. Now we have to work on that."

“The only thing I need is players that want to help the team. They have to listen to what I say, because I believe it is better to have 11 players do the same thing wrong than everybody doing what they want.”

Klopp will give his players the chance to prove themselves before heading to the transfer window.

Talking if Liverpool can attract players without Champions League, he said:

“Of course, not having Champions League football is a problem, but if a player doesn’t want to come to Liverpool then stay away,”

Klopp's teams have alway been based on tiptop physical fitness. Those players that cannot keep running at full throttle for 90 mins will likely be shown the door.
OPTA stats through the past years show that his teams cover the most KM than the rest of the other teams in every season. ;)

to me, winning any trophy in the near future is secondary.
each of the 11 players on the field must really play for this club throughout the match.
each of them must play like a hungary beast, as if tomorrow depends on this game.

Agreed to what have been said. The players should play their hearts out to let the fans be entertain and relax for 90mins. Enjoy each moments together as a team whether is players or the fans. Jurgen Klopp:

“Winning is important but so is how you win and how you play the game. I believe in a playing philosophy that is very emotional, very fast and very strong. My teams must play at full throttle and take it to the limit every single game.

“It is important to have a playing philosophy that reflects your own mentality, reflects the club and gives you a clear direction to follow. Tactical of course, but tactical with a big heart.

“Liverpool has extraordinary supporters and Anfield is a world renowned home, with an incredible atmosphere. I want to build a great relationship with these supporters and give them memories to cherish.

“I hope we can feed off each other’s energy and that we take this journey together.”

Jurgen Klopp:

“It’s the biggest challenge at the moment in world football.

“I was not ever a guy (to take) the easy way. This is the most interesting job in world football because it’s not so bad!

“I read it was a disaster (having 12 points in the league) and we’re six points behind (leaders Manchester City).

“Nobody is satisfied, nobody is patient anymore. It’s interesting.

“We have to think about what we can change. I need help of course.

“I know what I want. First I have to talk to the players and find a common way. It’s not a bad thing to be a good friend of mine because I’m really loyal.”

"Strong personality, very strong, very stubborn, determined and his performances, and his career at Dortmund was a stellar rise to the top...I don't like saying that, being Liverpool, because I'm worried about it but, no, he'll do well."
Fergie on Klopp's appointment as Liverpool manager

"I just heard Klopp's press conference and he sounds very, very impressive. I think the supporters will need to fasten their seat belts - I'm sure they will really enjoy him. He seems to be somebody who's not in love with himself, which the Liverpool supporters can relate to. I'm sure they will take him to their hearts. He's described himself as 'the normal one' and that will do them fine because they regard themselves as being pretty normal."
Dalglish to the Liverpool fans

"Liverpool have not had any success for a long time and they've changed the manager all the time. And now they have appointed a German who is no miracle worker. Progress is not possible without a bit of time. I spoke to the people in charge of the club at length. There are no targets for this season, just simply to play football with a recognisable brand".
Klopp in a recent interview with German newspaper Bild

Fergie and King Kenny's povs above gave me goosebumps! But credit to Klopp for trying to manage the sky high expectations and bring the fans back to reality for this season at least. Then again, we can still dream, no?

Really pumped for this Saturday's game against Spurs. Come on Kloppo, come on you Redmen!

Never before have I seen such excitement over the appointment of a new Liverpool manager . Best of all Klopp is saying all the right things that what the fans wants to hear . Now the real hard work begins. Lets give Klopp the time he needs to implement his vision for Liverpool . From a week ago of nightmare and hopelessness comes new hope . A new hope that the Liverbird can once again rise over England and Europe.

As fans we should also learn to manage our expectations.

1) For this season can safely say that Champions League is out of reach for Liverpool . Unless a miracle happen . We should at least expect Liverpool to finish in the top half of the table . It would be great if Liverpool can finish above 6 .

2) The new manager had a lot of work to do before him. He had to undo so many wrongs that the previous manager had done. I won't be surprise to see some of the Liverpool players being shown the exit door .

3) As the new manager settles in , he need to get a feel of his players and of the EPL . Look what happen to LVG at ManU. So don't expect instant results . The man is after all not a messiah . He cannot walk on water . He is just a normal guy .

4) Next summer will see him go to the transfer market . I hope the transfer committee don't screw him up and support him totally . With a world class manager at Liverpool it would be slightly much easier to attract top players .

5) The players also need time to adjust to the new manager's style of play. Hopefully as fans we will get to see the full 90 mins and not 45 mins.

All the best Klopp . And welcome to Anfield . YNWA.

Yeah just read about poor Gomez's cruciate knee ligament injury, sounds like a bad painful one, hope he makes a full recovery.

More bad news, Benteke has yet to recover from his hamstring injury, so he ain't available for Saturday's game against Spurs, so too Henderson and Flanagan who remain on the injured list. But apparently Firmino is making a recovery from his back injury, however whether he can fully recover in time for Saturday's match is still an open question.

Liverpool has a total of 8 players in the medical room! The second highest in the Premier League.

Ings and Gomez will be long-term absentees while another long-term absentee Flanagan is expected to be fit in December. This is good news as it will be some choices for Klopp on the right side of defense. But hopefully this guy stays fit!

Benteke and myself are expected to recover by next week but it is likely we will miss the Europa game on Thursday and the game against Southampton is a doubt too.

Lovren and Coutinho is expected to training but not sure if they will feature tomorrow.

Klopp's first pre press conference .

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48GvQBzlssU

Traditionally Liverpool don't do well after an international break . Furthermore Klopp hasn't got much time to work with the players . On top of that Liverpool's injury list keep on growing . The players who can play hopefully wil step up their game to show Klopp that they deserve to play for him. Hence we should lower our expectations for the next few games .

Considering the number of players in our treatment room I think it was a decent performance tonight. Think the game was quite even steven, we had our chances, they had theirs too so draw was a fair result. Agree with bros, defending has improved. There seem to be a quiet renewed confidence in the team. Hopefully with the return of first team players like Benteke, DS n Firmino, we will start winning our next tough games.

The team looks so much more balanced. Just lacking in quality, particularly in attack. Henderson for Milner and Sturridge in and this team could still go somewhere. Quite happy, the first 20 minutes were a wonderful insight into what Klopp will be training up the lads to do i.e. Gegenpressing, full throttle  and "heavy metal" football!

A taste of what's ahead perhaps, just lacking a few key players to make it happen. Mignolet was excellent today, one or two top saves there. Sakho, Can and Lucas also looked good.

There is another German player in the academy Samed Yesil . I hope that Klopp will also give him a chance .

This is the first time I have seen Liverpool played with such intensity. How the players played as a team and try to win the ball the back whenever possible. They never give Spurs players a chance to settle down. Sakho was immensed . If not for him Liverpool would surely have lost the game . Can't say that of Skrtel though . He was not in form for the match . Mignolet did make some excellent saves for Liverpool but his distribution was poor . At last I did not hear Liverpool fans booing the team . It was a well fought game. This is the type of fighting spirit we would like to see from the team. A new era had begun and the Liverbird will rise once again .

Looks like one of our best players does not fit into Klopp's plans.... rumours coming out from Anfield is that Klopp is not impressed with Coutinho and will listen to offers for him in the next transfer window as he deemed Coutinho as not having the physical attributes to carry out his game philosophy and style of play. Endurance has always been Coutinho's weakness even back in his RM days.

There is no denying that Klopp needs time to set his plans into motion.
He knows he had a tough job ahead of him.
He inherited BR's team which had lots of problems.
Definitely there will be some players who cannot fit Klopps' plans at all.
The first season is for Klopp to get to know his current team and the BPL .
It will have to be by trial and error .
As Klopp had already said that he is no miracle worker.
It will be miracle if he can get Liverpool to qualify for the Champions League this season.
Lets be fair to the new manager. Give him the time he needs to build up a successful Liverpool team once again.
As for today's game I suspect it is gonna be another draw game for Liverpool.

Actually I don't care much for the LC, same goes for the FA Cup, l am much more interested in the EC for obvious reasons. Saying that, think the Bournemouth game later tonight is important for just one reason i. e. to get the proverbial monkey off Klopp and his team's back and get their first win after 9 draws!

As for Saturday's match against Chelsea, a win at the Bridge may well be a the turning point to the Reds season but let's not jump the gun and stick to tonight's game at Anfield first.

Delighted to finally see us win again!

Positives:

Firmino looks quality.

Clyne is a machine and has now shown that he can play on the left as well.

Ibe looked back to himself.

Teixeira looks like someone who should be getting more opportunities.

Lucas looks to be an important player for the team this season.

After a dodgy 1st half Randall raised his game significantly in the second half. Maybe Klopp had a word?

While it wasn't exactly a great performance, in the 2nd half we looked comfortably the better team.

Mignolet needs to be looking over his shoulder. Bogdan looked excellent.

Next target : a clean sheet against Chelsea away. Plus something like a repeat of the pressing and decent quality passing game we saw in tonight's Capital Cup win.

Let me end here with some calm rational words from Klopp:

"It's better than a draw," Klopp told Sky Sports with a wry smile:D

J. Klopp is a different manager compared to BR.

First he trust in his players and his players trust him to bring out their potential. Can is playing in midfield. look at Sakho and Moreno, both players whom are left on the bench by BR but now excelling under Klopp. Sakho is an French international player and how someone question his ability is ????. Defence is more stable now.

Ibe is an up n coming talent, the samba duo of Coutinho n Firmino are working well together with Benteke then it will be formidable.

Now we are still not at full strength but the team is playing much better under Klopp. wait till Hendo, Ings, Sturridge and rest of the on loan players are back it will be a pleasure to watch.

always love Klopp's reaction whenever the team scores. you can see he's part of the team with the players.

Good overall performance by the Redmen, especially the defence now looks much more balanced and solid, even with Lovren and Allen on the pitch! Credit to both of them who look much improved and more confident.

Big shout out to Jordan Ibe, this lad was really top draw last night! Sakho was a monster once again and Firmino showed off his silky class at times!

The high tempo gegenpressing game is slowly coming to fruition but what is worrying is that the Reds still lack that clinical incisive goal strike touch in the final third of the pitch. Hate to say this but I reckon if we had a fit Sturridge on the pitch we probably would have demolished Rubin Kazan by at least 3 or 4 goals. Don't get me wrong, I like Benteke, however with the way we are currently playing, I think it is difficult for him to score as he appears isolated. Also the crossing to him was awful.

Anyways still lots of positives. Think Sunday's match against Crystal Palace is going to be massive as the pyschological effect from another win, especially with more than one goal shall cement the confidence in the team.

Oh yes must end with what happened on the pitch after the game, i.e. Klopp hugging the lad Jordan and shouting "Ibeeee":D...fantastic feeling!!

Upwards and onwards Redmen!

I am really glad to see the team getting another positive result.
I am even happier to see those players who are not performing well under BR seemed to be doing better under JK .
The defense looks more solid even with Lovren .
The only players that is not up to par is Milner .
As usual the final third seemed to be lacking . The players need to have more confidence in front of goal .
Henderson is back in training.
But Liverpool should not depend on DS as the main striker.
Looking forward to the next game.

Need quite a few new players in and quite a few sold, far too many passengers in this team.

Mignolet, Moreno, Can and Benteke were dreadful today. Ibe was good first half but poor in the 2nd. Coutinho must be wondering why he even bothers sometimes when he looks at who is playing along side him. Lallana is good for a little trick or flick but he is so predictable and he simply just fails to deliver. Always knew Sakho was our best defender, just hope his injury is nothing serious and he's back in a couple of weeks.

Well the honeymoon period for Klopp is over. Guess this is pretty much how the season is going to go for Liverpool, ups and downs, hopefully more of the former and less of the latter.

They only had 1 day of training on Saturday . But some players were really off the mark . I only hope Sakho's injury is not that serious . Klopp is lucky that the fans left early . If it were BR still around they would have booed . Have to credit the Crystal Palace players they have more hunger than Liverpool players.

I'm very disappointed with this young man too. However, I'm very pleased Liverpool sold him for a sizable profit. Very very pleased indeed.

It does not matter in what context was that statement relayed because in football the money element supersedes loyalty and passion. But what makes a player a top top professional is discipline and character and Sterling clearly does not have it.

That is the reason Alex Ferguson remained hugely successful despite selling Ince, Beckham, Stam, van Nistelrooy, or C. Ronaldo.

I wonder if Klopp was appointed straight after the season ended in May instead of last month, would Sterling have reconsidered his position and stayed? Also wonder whether Klopp would have given Balotelli a reprieve?

Anyways read some recent comments made by Ian Rush to TNP, where Rushie thinks the Reds still stand a chance to finish top 4 in the EPL this season. Truly wish he is right but personally think he is a tad overly optimistic unless Sturridge get's back his fitness and goal scoring sharpness real soon plus remains injury free and fit till the end of the season banging in at least 20 EPL goals.

Oh man read that Kun Aguero is likely to make his return at the Etihad for the Reds match, big threat. The way i see it, Liverpool should play fearless football against City, similar to the way Palace played against the Reds in order to try and get a favourable result. Anything less and Liverpool would probably come away with nothing, hopefully not a spanking though.

Jurgen is a 4-2-3-1 lad and the question is which players fit into those roles.

Coutinho, Lallana, and Firmino are all number 10s and we recently saw Coutinho on the left while the other two guys played as number 10.

Milner is a doubt because when Henderson returns, Can is a good partner.

Absolutely brilliant, didn't see that coming at all, thought we would be spanked but instead the opposite happened!! Actually it could well have been 7 with Firmino getting a hatrick if not for Hart who played very well for City.

Football Blitzkrieg! Fast, explosive and psychologically defeating for the opponent. If this is what Gegenpressing is all about, than more power to it for the Reds!

Klopp showed that it's not about this or that player or "what do you expect with Sturridge injured?!", but just a well drilled team playing to his orders. Just fantastic!

Firmino was the bomb! So clinical, so effective, slowly but surely validating his £29m price tag. Coutinho was pure magic, just hope his injury is nothing major. Can was absolutely faultless, outstanding back heel for the goal, wow! Milner ran like a dog, non stop chasing, fantastic. Lallana, the ball stuck to his feet like glue and was very hardworking.

Best twitter quote from Jamie Carragher, "I taught Skrtel that every day at Melwood!!", after Martin's cracking goal:D

A very interesting statistic after this match - Jurgen Klopp has more away wins versus 'top four' in six weeks than Brendan Rodgers had in three years! Now all we need is for the Redmen to go on a consistent run.

Oh yes hope this match has taught Sterling and that piece of shit agent of his Aidy Ward a lesson on humilty and to keep their big fat gobs shut!

Finally on a side note, I gather Graeme Souness was rushed to hospital last night (Singapore time). Hope its nothing serious after 2 previous heart attacks. YNWA Souey!

I beg to differ.

Unlike Brendan who had very little European football experience, I think Klopp takes it seriously and has a good track record as well. No doubt this is only the EC but it does offer a tantalizing prize to the eventual winner i.e. an automatic spot in next season's CL group stage competition.

I suspect Klopp is going to try and focus on both the EPL and EC and see where it takes the Reds at the end of the season. To me the League Cup and FA Cup are worthless distractions.

It was a scrappy performance by the team.
Good news is we have qualified.
Bad news is that Sturridge is injured again.

Agreed all in a scrappy performance and perhaps afew unnecessary heartbeat moments in the final 10 minutes but the Reds still got the job done and are through to the final 32 of the EC.

Also good to see Liverpool come from behind, although I must say Mignolet should not have made such a silly mistake to concede the first goal. Lovely winner by Benteke as well and Firmino was impressive once again.

As for Daniel Sturridge, man I really don't know what to say:(

i think we were caught out by bordeaux determined performance.....how they are pressing us for the ball right from the first whistle. This was a hard fought win n a superb winner from benteke.........i thought firminio was poor in this game......cant even hold on to the ball......anyway a win is a win, bring on swansea next!! YNWA
