Over the past few seasons, we were successful because we are speedy and we can pull the opponent's fullbacks out of position to exploit the gap between the fullback and the centreback. Salah and Mane running near the touchline on the right and left sides. If that doesn't pull the fullbacks out of position, we get TAA and Robertson to double up to create more chaos by the sides. By doing this, we created gaps in the middle between the centreback and defensive midifielders.

Now, we have no threat on the left after Mane left and Diaz is injured. Nunez and Firmino hardly exploit the gap on the left side. This allows the opponent to park the bus and concentrate more on the right side. Everyone knows Salah will try to spin and spoin to try and find gaps. Salah, VVD, Bobby, Henderson and Milner also have slowed down. We tried to outrun, outsprint a younger Leeds side. It's suicidal.

If Jurgen wants to play his usual game, we need to buy younger speedy players. We are carrying so much expensive deadwood in Ox, Keita, Curtis, Gomez.

Until we

Nice distraction.

Will take any win we can get at this point, and a clean sheet is a nice bonus!

Part of me is annoyed that we won that you know. We can beat the best team in the PL and beat the in-form team in Europe but don't ask us to get a result against the likes of Forest or Leeds. Sheesh.

Must say Konate is so much better than Gomez. Nunez is great and think Ramsay will be great for us. Thiago done superbly up against some real physical players in that MF, a truly amazing player. Shout out to Tsimikas' in-swinging corners, they are lethal! Oh and an excellent cameo from Harvey Elliott. Hope Milner is ok and also must say Napoli's Kim Min Jae is one hell of a CB!

So looks like it is either Bayern, PSG, Real or Porto for us next. Can't play anyone else, i think? That first leg at Anfield will be electric! Give us one of the big teams. Underdog mentality, first leg at home, another one of them big magical Anfield european nights, fingers crossed!

Back to the present. Let's see what team turns up at the weekend.

Ha ha, don't try to be sarcastic...
Napoli not championship team unlike Rangers but they have nothing much to play for, they can lose 3-0 n still retained top spot! Why would they go all out against Pool?
The good thing is Pool won which is a morale booster! :D

Regardless of which team Kloop fields and whatever result, I will still be supporting our team. It's like your kid taking his final exams. Regardless of his results, he's still your kid and you won't love him any less. As long as he tries his best, that's good enough.

Of course if the kid keeps failing, we will whine in our hearts. If he still keep failing after that, we will blame the lack of intelligent genes from the wife's side... :p but still have to support and love the kid right? :D

I can't do 12.30 am matches anymore. Will feel very tired the next day. Are you guys still staying up late to watch football matches? Sometimes I wake up to watch the 3 am CL matches.

Anyway, given the injuries to English players, I think TAA will be going to the World Cup. Are you guys signing up for the World Cup early Bird offer? The World Cup matches are quite late.

So many said we sold the wrong player.
Should had kept Mane and sold Salah:confused:
I always trust Klopp.

We were lucky to survive second half with no rhythm. Also Spurs without Son.

Great job to Konate and been a monster.

1st half was the Liverpool of old, second half was the current Liverpool.

Anyways still a massive win in the context of top 4. We beat Spurs and Chelsea and United both lost. That said the rise of Newcastle might make things even more difficult now. Still lets try and win next weekend and kick on after the WC.

Salah was great with 2 goals, Nunez was very good, so too Harvey until he got tired and Alisson contributed heavily.

But MOTM has to be Konate. Once again i have to say what a big difference compared to Gomez.

Must say Spurs' Kulusevski looked very dangerous when he came on.

Oh and apparently when Conte went after Lijnders for the ball, Lijnders said to him….”Good intensity “:D

PS. Good to see Ox on the pitch as well. Hope to get a good price for him now, lol!

There is a lot of money floating around due to the Quantitative Easing during the Covid period. I suspect we may get either an oil related owner or another American owner. The Chelsea owner seems to think the EPL is being run in a backward manner with many new avenues of growth.

I think FSG is selling because the owners are getting too old. Probably want to cash out and semi-retire. Unlikely to cash out fully before the stadium is completely upgraded I think.

FSG bought LFC at £300m and has been raking in profits every year.... which went to cover their losses in the Red Sox Team & their family businesses.
Selling now at £3b is 10x profit on their investment..... and they know they will lose money next year if LFC cannot qualify for the CL.

The expected temperature range in Qatar in December is 15 degrees Celsius (low) and 24 degrees Celsius (high). I cannot find the dates for our Qatar training camp but I doubt it will be the entire duration of the World Cup. Even Pep Guardiola is taking a 2 week break till 5th Dec. I know we have friendly matches lined up against AC Milan and possibly Lyon in Qatar.

In reality, it makes it easier for Klopp to meet breakout stars of the World Cup and hopefully sign them during the January window.

With the signing of Gakpo, I think it means we will not extend Firmino's contract. Gakpo, Nunez, Joto, Diaz, Salah may be our 5 strikers for next season. Last season we have 7 strikers (Mane, Bobby, Salah, Diaz, Jota, Minamino, Origi) and we didn't have enough serious games for the last 2. Cannot see us retaining Bobby and have 6 strikers next season.

We also need to settle Harvey Elliot's position. Is he a winger or midfielder? Do we have enough games for his development?

Agree we need Firmino till the end of the season. His contract ends in the summer. We will probably give him the sending off we gave to Lallana. Towards the last 2 months, we may play him sparingly. If he gets injured, he will find it much harder to find a new club.

No one talking about the kid Bajcetic's performance last night? Breath of fresh air and shows great promise.

Even the other kid Doak showed a little something when he came on. Can you imagine at one point we actually had 3 teenagers on the pitch in a PL away game no less, albeit that was just for a few minutes but still something special.

Glad to see Ox start a PL game again after so long and put in quite a good performance.

Not happy with our defending though. We depend too much on Alisson to save our bacon, not good. Really need to sort this out quickly.

Darwin Nunez, can see the lad is trying his best. Problem is his touch is clearly lacking and this then affects his confidence. That 100m price tag seems too big a burden for him.

Anyways a win and 3 points is all that matters. We really needed that. Newcastle already going to add another headache to the battle for Top 4.

As for the arrival of Gakpo, glad to see him but really hope he is not an injury prone headache.

Good summary for Gakpo. He is 1.93m tall by the way. Nunez, VVD, Matip and him will be a nightmare to defend against for corners. We have 2 tall speed monsters now in Nunez and Gakpo. Strangely though for someone so tall, he takes the corners for PSV and had created many assists as a result

UEFA had changed the rule since last year...Luis Diaz was allowed to play for Liverpool in the ko stage after playing for Porto in the group stage.

So Gakpo can play in the ko stage for Liverpool.

That's great.

Massive 3 points. That's the positive out of the way.

Just can't figure how we are so poor in so many parts of our game.

Where to start for the Leicester goal....around 6 of our players were culpable for that. It was beyond shocking.

Thiago was our only player who even looked like a midfielder last night. The only player in there who could actually control & pass the football.

Mo was as wasteful as Darwin last night, but Nunez will get all the scorn.

We got away with the wastefulness v Villa and again last night, and those 6 points have been crucial because we're not going to win too many more games playing the way we are.

Love this game and Leicester scored 3 goals but lost.

Liverpool was lucky to get 3 points.

Agreed that both Nunez and Salah was wasteful but created enough problems resulting in own goals.

Next match GAKPO can play.

Too many young players and too many old players and none at their peak.

Hope they buy the whole club and not partial, if FSG still maintain majority control then don't think much will change in terms spending. Why should Klopp step down? He is the best coach and he will turn Liverpool around just like 2015.

All Liverpool need is to change some old lazy players.

If the Qatar group will to buy LFC then good chance there will be huge summer budget to buy players. FSG cash out and gone will be good for LFC.

Looked like a typical mid table clash, lack of quality on both sides.

Oh well, we didn't lose.

We saw in 5-10 minutes at the start of the 2nd half where we had some sort of intensity we looked like scoring.

In the past few years we were able to have that intensity all game, game after game. We managed less than 10 minutes and couldn’t sustain it. This team is done. Physically this group can no longer do it.

This is probably the most deflated I've felt about a Liverpool side since Hodgson's time.

Oh yeah, never seen this lad Mudryk till now, must say i am impressed, no wonder there was a lot of buzz around him over the last few weeks.

Understand yr feelings bro ...it looks like Chelsea has strengthened themselves considerably by the almost daily signings Boehly their owner made in this January transfer window after spending over 400 £ or € n they shd be in or ard top 4 by end of this season esp with the capture of this exciting n fast running new Ukrainian striker Mudryk..envisage them moving up the ladder fast

if this guy had not been taken by Chelsea from Arsenal from under their noses n signed for Arsenal as originally intended, Arsenal would definitely win the EPL this yr without a doubt...as for Pool to move upwards, it all depends on how fast the injured players can come back to play n also how Klopp motivates, handles or uses the rest of his available men esp his 2 new signings Darwin n Gakpo ..

it's half way thru' the season n there is still hope for the traditional big 6 teams to win the league or be in top 4 to qualify for next season's European competition if their managers can lead their players to play with gusto to win in every match e.g Mudryk etc, etc...not easy but time will eventually tell

Hate to say it but ETH has really done a very good job thus far for you'll bro

He managed to get rid of the biggest problem, cr7, and also benched Maguire...also got the likes of Rashford, Fred, Shaw, AWB etc. playing the best football they have played in a while...seems to be getting it right tactically as well...if you'll had Casemiro i sense a draw would have been the more likely result....that said i also think ETH got it a bit wrong in 2nd half and should have brought on subs like Garnacho and Pellistri early to stop the immense pressure from Arsenal

As for Arsenal...regardless of Mudryk, and he seems very good btw, i think the Gunners have a very good chance of winning the league this season...Arteta has really groomed them well as a whole unit and everything seems to be coming to fruition for them at the moment...i thought with Jesus out they might have a problem but Nketiah just stepped up to the plate

On Chelsea...Mudryk seems very good...but i sense Chelsea have just been buying left right and centre without any big game plan....very much doubt they can get top 4 this season

Pains me to say this but the same applies to Liverpool...the Reds just dont seem to have what it takes to get top 4 this season...they are well and truly in the mud...i now really fear our CL tie with Madrid coming up soon...the summer transfer window is going to be immense in Liverpool's effort to try and rebuild a new team capable of challenging for the title or at least getting top 4 next season

Hope i am proven wrong but my guess is that Arsenal shall probably win the EPL this season, City 2nd, United 3rd and Newcastle 4th....just hope City dont win the CL, and this might make Pep walk away from the Etihad:D

See what happens in the summer regarding transfers ownership management players etc.

It's shocking how a recruitment team that was the envy of Europe has let this group age so poorly together physically and mentally without any refresh.

I'm dying to know who is responsible for not refreshing the geriatric midfield. Fabinho is apparently 29 but his physiologic age is that of a pensioner:rolleyes: He looks arthritic out there!

I fear that our recruitment team turned into the old United approach-- go for unrealistic players (Bellingham, Tchoumani), lose out at the last minute to more attractive option, then have no back-up plan:(

What recruitment team?
More than 10 of Klopp's backroom support staff has quitted LFC in the past 12 months. Unless the backroom mess is sorted out..... I dun think Klopp can do any improvement to the team's performance by himself.

It says alot when even the now jobless Steven Gerrard has declined to return to LFC to take up an offer to be one of Klopp's assistant. Something must be wrong inside Melwood.

Salah clean through on goal last week fluffs his lines.
Darwin clean through on goal last night fluffs his lines.

We have a forward line that can't score.
We have a midfield that can't protect.
We have a defence that can't defend.

I think we are finishing in the bottom half of the table and if we didn't have the number of points on the board as we do I would be scared of a relegation battle:eek:

Saturday a big test now to prove last night wasn't just because Everton was awful.

Bajcetic is a baller, this kid could turn into a real player. Very encouraged with Nunez & Gakpo as well. Delighted Cody got off the mark.

Two quality goals, three golden points, let's climb:cool:

Now let's never talk of this second half again though:D

Its never easy against 10, we played very well to go 2 up I thought. Great week, 2 big wins. On to Madrid. Good to feel a bit of optimism again:)

Alisson was mega and Milner was ace. But according to Sky Sport, MOTM was given to an attacker from a team who didn’t score:p

Fingers crossed Nunez is not too bad.

Hopefully saving something for a big performance on Tuesday night - in true Keegan style, "Nothing, and I mean nothing, would make me happier than putting Madrid out of the CL":D

Sad to see.

The forward line is the only positive thing about this team.

The midfield and defence has run it's course (brilliantly) for the last 4 years, but it's over now.

Final nail in the coffin for this team. Crushing defeat. Real Madrid made us look like schoolboys in the end, embarrassing.

At 2-0 up you're thinking maybe we're actually back... And then we lose 2-5.

Unbelievable.

Majority of Pool fans are in denial... We're still hoping things will turnaround but after last night's crushing defeat, it's pretty obvious it's not gonna happen. R.Madrid was simply a class above Pool in every department n Modric was still bossing the midfield @the ripe young age of 37. Non of Pool players were able to match him. If an 18yr old newbie Bajcetic were to start in every match for Pool, something is seriously wrong about this team!

Just less then a year back, we were bossing RM around in the CL final though the team lost due to some fine goalkeeping. What a turn around it has been, goes to show how far the team has fallen..

Two mid-table sides in full view.

Another game over onwards towards the end of a totally forgettable season.

Klopp's post-game presser shows he has lost it. No self-awareness of how bad we and he have become. He acts like he came to "kill the atmosphere, stop Palace playing and get a point. Mission accomplished." This was like Hodgson and his "famous point" comment. Very worrisome.

We spent a lot of money on Nunez and Gakpo. So it's not as if the owners didn't make the funds available. I think Klopp is just being Klopp. He knows he needs to improve the midfielder but he prefers to wait for his number 1 target which is Jude Bellingham.

It's the same as many years ago. We know we needed to improve on the Centreback position. He wanted VVD. We failed to sign VVD and he left the situation as it is. We leaked goals until we signed VVD.

Instead of signing Beliingham and another good midfielder, it may be cheaper to sign a good rightback plus Bellingham and move TAA to midfield.

Beyond my wildest dreams. 8 shots on target resulted in 7 goals. Their keeper's wage is on £375,000 pounds per week somemore. Marcus Rashford's face cramp look is quite ugly ya? Bruno Fernandes is more interested in tantrums. Their team sorely misses Eriksen.

I pity Sir Alex Ferguson at times. He wanted to leave a strong team behind for his successor. Which he did. His last team is strong. Then his successor dismantled his team and resulted in almost 10 lost years. Somemore keep inviting him back to watch Man U lose to Liverpool. The cameraman like to focus on his facial reactions.

Now let's focus on getting into CL next season. This result will help us with recruitment. Gakpo is as good as Nunez but the price difference is so much

Nunez is supposed to terrorise the defence and Gakpo is to do what ex-player Coutinho did.

If both turned out good we shall forget those ex-players departed.

The pundits really made a horror story about slumping Liverpool when we had many first team injured.

I remember someone commented Klopp should leave, how wrong was the comment. Klopp is a Liverpool legend and one of the best coach in the world. There will be no shortage of clubs including national teams queueing to sign Klopp as coach.

WOW, just WOW!!

Thank you Erik Seven Hag or is it 7 out of Ten Hag, lol!!

As they say, form is temporary, class is permanent.

The whole team played like the unit we have come to enjoy. Have to fully put the troubles of this season behind us now. We ain't finished yet. Let’s hope we can maintain this form and energy for the rest of the season, and the front 3 have a few more goals saved up for the Bernabeu.

Big apologies and a huge hug to Jürgen for staying loyal to the players, picking them up and showing them the road again. I thought our midfield would be overrun. I clearly know **** all, lol!

That was peak Mo Salah last night. World Class. And don’t let it get lost that Mo became our top scorer ever in PL!!

Gakpo formally announced his arrival loud and clear. Young Harvey repaid Klopp's faith in him, so too Robbo, Fab and Hendo.

Our GD is +19 and United's is +6. United's worst defeat since 1931, when they were beaten 7:0 by Wolves. SWEET, just SWEET!!!

Bruno is their captain; says it all how can he be a leader of men when he spends half the time on his arse pretending stuff, he’s a joke and should be banned a few games for manhandling the linesman!

Casemiro was owned last night, worst performance I have ever seen from him. He usually turns up against us so often, not last night. Thought Varane looked shocking as well. Our movement around the box showed up just how leaden footed he can be if you can get in and around him.

Icing on the cake, lol.....!!!

So glad the likes of Gary Neville, Roy Keane and Fergie had to sit through this match and squirm! So too Martin Tyler and Rio gone missing! Watching Neville's meltdown was almost as good as the result, and Souness just further winding him up was brilliant TV! Souness really stuck it to Rat Boy, lol!!

This is Gakpo's second goal from many angles. There is an analysis of this on wechat. Basically Gakpo passed the ball to Salah. Salah runs into space. Gakpo runs into the gap. Salah passes and Gakpo scores.

What the analysts highlighted was the initial pass from Gakpo to Salah. Man U's Anthony was challenging Gakpo. He then slagged off and didn't chase Gakpo as Gakpo was running into space. By the time Gakpo scores, the distance between two of them moved from the initial 0 metres to probably 30-50 metres. Gakpo's run blindsided Man U's first line of defence who were all focusing on Salah.

By the way, Gakpo's Chinese name is quite nice. It's 加克波.

This 3rd goal or Gakpo 2nd goal was a chipped over gk which is not easy. Also angle tight and to score from this angle only chip the gk since gk already narrowed the angle by coming forward.

Antony slipped made Salah pass to Gakpo easier. Pundits were analysing this over the internet.

BBC pundit Garth Crooks now said Liverpool found Mane replacement.

This is weird! Weghorst touching the Liverpool sign. Wonder has any other oppo done that before?!?
Apparently he was a boyhood Liverpool fan: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ield-sign.html

'I always found Liverpool very special. I still get goosebumps from "You'll Never Walk Alone". There are other great English clubs too, and I always liked Milan because so many Dutch played there,' Weghorst told DAZN in 2020.

And in 2018, he told De Telegraaf: 'I've dreamt of [playing for Liverpool] since childhood.

'Wout Weghorst: Man Utd forward touched Anfield sign 'to wind up Virgil van Dijk'

"The only intention I had was to stop him touching it and wind him up."

Yeah sure...:rolleyes::D

SAF only won 2 CL.

Currently which manager is available and will be successful at Liverpool, I dun think there is any available perfect match.

I don't think I have suggested we sack Klopp though. Many players are looking to join us so that they can get screamed at by him and also hugged by him

I just think we screwed up our transfer budget. We know we had to add to our midfield but we spent so much money on strikers in Gakpo and Nunez. Carvalho was added too. Diaz joined us a year ago. Our transfer strategy was mainly about our strikers. In 2022, we added 4 options

Then we tried to sign Bellingham and kept a chunk of our midfield budget for this guy. When we didn't sign him, we signed Arthur on a short term loan. End up he joined our rehabilitation team. KNN..

It seems MC King Naby Kieta has played his last match for Liverpool if rumors of him leaving the club during the transfer season is true. Came back from international break with injury again and will be in sick bay till the end of the season..

No loss. If you noticed, Klopp seldom play those who are nearing the end of their contract. If they suffer a major injury, they may not be able to join the next club. Think of how Klopp protected Lallana during his last few months with us. I think Bobby will be used sparingly too in future. Plus Oxlade Chamberlain.

Klopp is a fair guy. Players know they can run out their contracts under him without being forced to join a club they don't want to. There is no pressure on them as the contract runs out too. Emre Can was allowed to run down his contract too. This will be a point players consider when they look to join a new club.

No worries. We are all long term passionate fans here.

Given that we are out of all cup competitions, we should be well rested for our remaining matches. The player of the year has to be Allison I feel.

I also wished they don't come, each time they come Singapore the following season they seems to slump in performance...

What a game - after we got fired up, thanks Xhaka:D

Well in Red Men, proud of us 2nd half. You proved me wrong last night. Pleased to say that:cool:

This game showed the difference between what we were and what we have become though.

The 1st 40 minutes was what we have seen most of this season, a pub team on auto-pilot because by then we were 2-0 down. Then the fight back, a goal just before half time and then in the 2nd half, we showed the Liverpool of old under Klopp, the style that won us all the trophies. Faster, hungrier, sharper, pressing monsters:cool:

Actually, Ramsdale could've won Arsenal the title there, we had quite a few clear cut chances. We even allowed Salah to miss another pen, our 1st at Anfield in over a year as the game ended as a draw 2-2. Definitely Fabinho or Jota on pens after that. That said, the pull back on Salah was an obvious pen. Did they choose just to ignore it because he got the shot away?

Must say look at what Thiago made us look like when he came on, very nice. Also thought Konate was pretty incredible!

As for Nunez, his header to Konate was good, but why on earth isn't Nunez heading towards goal from 5 yards?

On a lighter note, Carragher and ratboy Neville's ooohs and ahhhhs to Konate's miss had me wondering if we had picked up audio from pornhub:p

Finally, talking point will be - did the linesman elbow to Robertson in the throat:eek:

Liverpool could had won at the last few minutes.

Why Salah can missed twice and twice dun hit target.

We played with confidence last 30 minutes.

Absolutely right, we could and probably should have won it but for Ramsdale. Why he is still not England's #1 (https://samsforum.shop/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=1) beats me:confused:

Think Mo played quite well but his confidence seems low because the Salah of old would have definitely scored.
