I feel that he should stay in Liverpool. @least he's adored here in Liverpool by the club n fans. If he goes to Barca, he's just another ordinary player n Messi is the boss there. Koeman remaining in the club for next couple of seasons is also non guaranteed, much will depend on what silverwear he brings to the club.

my feeling is he will leave for a bigger paycheck since he is on free transfer.

with FCB lying 5th in La Liga now Koeman won't be there for long.

Not in a good mood after seeing this mornings results.

Leeds thrash West Brom at the Baggies home 5 nil and we could only draw with West Brom at Anfield?!

To make things worse Rashford scores a very late winner against Wolves to push United up to 2nd, now only 2 points behind us.

We really need to get our act together, starting with tonight's match against Newcastle.

Come on you Reds!

i don't think WBA fielded a 5-5-1 formation against Leeds.

because Pool scored 7 against CP in previous game, WBA Sam needed to avoid a repeat of CP result and went defensive against Pool. WBA will be relegated anyway.

the late winner against Wolves was a bummer.

come on Reds, you can do it against Newcastle.

To make things worse Rashford scores a very late winner against Wolves to push United up to 2nd, now only 2 points behind us.

I watched their last 2 matches. Their tactic is really simple. Pass the ball to Bruno Fernandes and let him play his killer passes. If he is injured, that is it. Plus he actually has a bad temper. Talk shit to him and he loses his cool. Both Leicester and Wolves give him so much time and space in midfield. I suspect both teams have small squads that are tired from the recent matches so they do not have the energy to man-mark him. The rest of Man U's team is so so. Periodically they take turns to have good moments but no one is consistent enough. Give them 10 chances and they score 3.. people only remember their goals and not how wasteful they are. Really score from almost the last kick. a deflection some more.

Now Man U and Liverpool may be meeting in a top of the table clash in January. If we do not have so many key injuries, we would have run away with the league. The rest of the league (Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City, Leicester) are so inconsistent. Chelsea spend so much money and may miss out on top 4 if things continue like this.

Let's not be too down hearted. We are leading the league by 2 points. One good transfer window and things will change. We are actually one of the few teams with money to spend in January. Plus Harvey Elliot is doing magic in the Championship. He will kick Minamino out of the squad next season I think.

If the performance is good but the results are poor, can still understand a bit. Right now, we had 9 days of rest after thrashing Crystal Palace. But we came back from this 9 day break looking more tired than ever. First touch poor, slow in reacting, can tell from the faces the players are tired. I wonder how Klopp managed them during this 9 day break. Did the squad even get a rest? Jialat.

Matip will be out for 3 weeks only. We really need Jota in to do some rotation for the front 3. Salah and Mane looks tired. Thankfully we will be much stronger after Jota, Thiago get back to full fitness. I think we need to use Milner as Robertson's backup too. Cannot expect him to run up and down for so many matches

Hate to criticise an incredible manager but Jurgen isn't learning to make subs earlier. And Shaq coming on for 2 mins isn't even for a midfielder. Jones is becoming more defensive lately. The strikers were very wasteful but more creativity and goal threat from midfield would have produced more. Klopp really should have played a reserve team in the final CL game. Jota is our most clinical striker this season, has a bunch of winners to his name, and was bang on form at the time of his injury.

Now with the moaning and whinging out of the way, let me end on a positive note:D

Thiago's looped pass for the offside was simply breathtaking.. it looked slow, but no defender came to it, it landed with a momentum that took the attacker into a scoring position, it was just sublime:cool: This guy is better than Litmanen with a ball, and Jari was incredible. Thiago's the hope now, he adds so much, way way more than anyone else on the bench. Pity we couldn't have risked him earlier. Dare I say, he is as important as VVD is to us, or will be very soon. Imagine when the 2 are on the pitch together, not to mention him and Diogo.. the more I think of it, the more I feel we need Fab back in DM, and someone to replace Fab at CB. Just pray Thiago stays fit and injury free from now on.

The fight continues, so keep the faith guys.

Wishing all the Liverpool fans in here a happy, healthy and peaceful 2021:)

U can sign Matip off..Out for 3 weeks is no diff as out for 3 mths. He's exactly the same pattern as Keita, play a couple of matches after injury n out for the next 3-4 weeks again.... The cycle will keep repeating itself.

Bad opening to the new year after looking at this morning's results:(

United now appear to have the momentum. Dangerous times. Sense old whisky nose SAF lurking behind the scenes now.

Bruno Fernandes has almost single-handedly got United to the top of the table on points with us. For all his cheating ways and annoyance, his output in terms of pure numbers is pretty formidable. He's what we'd all hoped Keita would be, sigh:( Wonder if Bruno will hold his nerve and stay when the big teams from Spain come calling:D

That said we still have Thiago, pray hard he stays fit and injury free from now on. Also hope Jota returns soon. And we really need to get a proper experienced dependable CB now.

Badly need to get back to our winning ways against Southampton on Monday. Any win will do, literally.

Come on you Reds!

I'd be surprised if City aren't top by February.

Brighton, Palace, Villa, Sheff United at home and WBA away.

Hopefully Palace and Villa can do something.

We really didn't need to be dropping 4 pts against WBA and Newcastle.

We really have to get back on form ASAP, starting with tonight's match against Southampton. Like I said before, any win will do.

Everything goes back to Jurgen Klopp in the end. We had the best fixtures this holiday season. So much rest between matches but we played without energy for 3 games now. He doesn't even shout at the sideline these days. There is only so much goodwill he can have before harder questions are asked.

We have the players to win all 3 games. JK is under pressure now and the next game is against Man U. We may lose our long running unbeaten home record.

Looking at the points, I think 75 points can win the league this season. So low.

really disappointing game.

Southampton did well and restricted Sadio Mane which is our biggest goal scoring threat. I'm sure many other teams will do the same in future.

I hope the whole team can get back their winning mentality and be at their best in the home game against Man U. We cannot afford to loose at Anfield, especially to our biggest rivals.

If people want to write off our title chances then let them. This is our first bad patch for over 2 years. It’s impossible to keep up those incredibly high standards indefinitely.

Sadly, for many reasons we are struggling which have all been well documented. No height in the team, injuries to key players, losing Hendo and Fabinho in midfield, and an individual and collective drop in form has severely effected our performance levels.
Up to the last few games we have coped well, but at some point it was going to catch us up.

If there’s one thing I know is that we haven’t gone from being brilliant to rubbish, we are still in the mix, and we are more than capable of turning it around BUT we have to get a CB or 2 and some players to get back to form. Form is temporary, class is permanent.

Failing which I am going to be like Gary Neville soon and wanting City to win:rolleyes::D

Oh yeah, can't stand this new Aqua away kit of ours and Andre Marriner is a real shit but gotta like this Saints boss who actually cried after beating us, shows you how much this meant to him, respect:cool:

I fully agree with Carra on this. In the dying seconds we were awarded a corner and we should have tried our luck and whip in a ball into the box. Instead we played a short corner and the referee blew the whistle for full time.

Only things that need to be said about last night's match are:

- Shaqiri should get more game time.

- Watching Thiago play football is a joy.

- Well played (young) Villa, good performance. Best of luck in respective careers.

Back to what really matters, the PL and CL. It all comes back to our CB issues again. Even if we could play with a Fabinho-Matip CB partnership for the rest of the season, I still think we would have a decent chance of retaining the PL. Unfortunately the chances of that happening are very slim. Sign a CB.

Bro, I think what Klopp alludes to is the fact that the whole world knows LFC needs a CB, so no one is going to release one at a cheap price..
So better to live with what we have than get chopped in the transfer market.
Focus on building the experience of who they have left..
Sad but that is life these days.

Still can cope with Fab n any other CB provided we don't play a high defensive line. With VVD or Gomez, the other CBs are too slow to recover once beaten by fast strikers. We should play as deep as possible against scums.

Get a CB or 2 on loan till the end of the season. Cos now the worse thing to happen is Fab getting injured n Pool will be without any established CB. Last night's match easily shows Rhys was not up to mark yet as he was easily beaten by another teenager which led to their equaliser. Can't imagine the pairing of Phillips n Rhys as CBs!

Think of how we play when we had Coutinho. We passed him the ball and run into space so that he can have options to make that killer pass. That is how Man U plays now. Their front 3 don't track back to press and defend so when they are attacked, they struggle defensively due to a lack of players defending.

We have to factor in the teething period if we buy a CB now. The new CB has to learn how we play and develop an understanding with the rest of the team. By the time the deal is done and the new CB settles in, Joe Gomez may not be too far away from complete recovery

I think we will eventually get one CB under the radar :D:D:D

Fabinno would be the CB 1st choice and hope he stays fit. MC King Matip cannot fully depend on him. Not sure why Klopp doesn't use Nat Phillips as much, at least if he is able to show his ability it's easier to sell him to other clubs in future. Makes me miss Lovren so much, letting him go was a mistake.

This is a good point.

It is also obvious United are going target our right side: CB(assuming Matip is still not fit to play) and RB on the 17th.

Perhaps Klopp should consider switching to a 4-2-3-1 for the time being when we without both experienced CBs?

United injury worries

Manchester United are sweating on the fitness of three players for the clash on Sunday.

The Red Devils' victory over Burnley, which took them top of the table, came at a cost, with both Anthony Martial and Nemanja Matic suffering late injuries.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was already without the services of Victor Lindelof, with a longstanding back problem meaning the Swede has played just two of their last seven matches.

If this was Mane or Salah talking they would have been crucified by the press and pundits.
Anyways I just checked, Paul Tierney is the ref for Sunday's match and apparently he has previously awarded United 5 pens recently and 0 pens for us. Be prepared for more "savviness" from Rashford, Fernandes, Pogba & co tomorrow:mad:

Have to be careful of Pogbra too, he wins penalties by pushing the ball past a defender, run straight into him and collapse to the ground as though the defender obstruct his path, and the blind referee would point to the spot.

for this game against MU, the key lies in our back line. if Matip is fit then he will partner Fabinho. if Matip is unfit, most likely Henderson will partner Fabinho as CB pairing. TAA and AR on right and left. we will misss Hendo in midfield.

midfield will most likely Thiago, Gini, Milner or Shaq or Ox as backup

up front still our thressome Salah, Firmino and Mane with Minamino as backup

Think United's game plan will to be arrive at Anfield three points ahead and at least leave still three points ahead.

Has Ole got the bottle to go head on with us leaving his back four exposed, I dont think so. He will park one or two buses and hope to hit us on the break.

The main man for United is Bruno. Stick Gini on him, man mark him out of the game and also give Pogba a few hard tackles and he will fade out of the game.

We also should not play a high line because leaving acres of space behind our back four they have players who can break and catch us. We need to play a bit deeper than normal with Hendo protecting our centre backs.

When we have the ball they will sit back and the way through United is through the middle. Maguire is slow and if we cause problems there it will also prevent the United full backs going forward because they will be tucking in to protect their two centre backs.

With them sitting back and us playing a bit deeper than normal it will allow Thiago the space in the middle to get his passing game going. His passing reduces the need to go from siide to side looking for and opening all the time.

He is always looking for the opening, the through or diagonal ball most of the time and we must be ready to latch on to them. If Bobby plays he must play as an out and out centre forward looking to get on the end of a Thiago pass and also keep their two centre backs under pressure.

In Thiago we have a quick thinking player and because of his passing he can hurt United no matter where he is on the field. We look much better going forward with him in the team and he must start from the kick off. If not we will find it hard. Klopp's team selection today is a massive factor.

In the past two seasons we have had some struggles against lower opposition but when we came up against the usual top six teams we have always performed when it mattered. Well it matters today and I think we will perform again.

The only thing I am not looking forward to is Martin Tyler's impartial match commentary. He makes my blood boil.

We will win this game easily if our front three just start taking their chances. We had so many chances to win the last 3 games but Salah and Mane have been very wasteful during the crucial moments. In times like this, I really miss Joto. If he is fit, the front three knows they will be dropped if they do not perform.

All said, I am going for a 3-0 win. Regardless of result, I know I will never stop supporting Liverpool, unlike plastic fans who keep their Man U jerseys when results are poor.

Having Salah, Firmino, Mane (to an extent) and Trent all badly out of form is absolutely killing our attack. No doubt we are missing Jota badly.

Ali, Henderson and Fabinho were absolutely superb though. Fabinho is the best centre-back and defensive midfielder in the league. Remarkable player. Unfortunately we are sorely missing both Hendo and Fab in midfield.

Thiago and Shaq were quite good. Surprisingly, Bruno was off form last night and/or we did a good job keeping him quiet. United overall were not bad but then again nothing special either, so a draw was a fair result.

The table is getting very crowded now and if we are not careful we might not make top 4 let alone challenge for the title. Really need to get our mojo back in attack and score goals starting with Burnley on Thursday.

Back to last night's game. What do people make of this decision? Still not reached 1 minute stoppage time, Mane is onside and through on goal and Tierney blows for half-time...

Stats don't lie.

Last 5 PL matches.

Goal attempts - 89
Shots on goal - 16
Goals - 1

I'm really worried about 4th now.

Klopp looked crestfallen and the team totally jaded. Seems like there is now even tension between Klopp and FSG going by Klopp's post match subtle comment on not being in control of this transfer window i e we ain't buying anybody.

I don't know how we can change things. Hendo injured, Jota is a month off and who knows what's up with Keita. Klopp needs to do something. Maybe play one of the kids with Matip and move Fabinho into midfield.
One thing for certain is we need the fullbacks to work the ball, the constant crossing is a waste of time.

It is also all about confidence. We some how need to get our mojo back.

Oh yes, no excuses but the decisions against us ain't helping either.
So Mane gets clipped just after taking the shot...nothing. Barnes gets touched by Alisson...pen. Can someone explain that to me?

We need to start winning a football game, but positive stuff to be honest. Considering we had an inexperienced teenager playing alongside a midfielder in the centre of defence. Put Matip in for Williams, and we probably win this game.

I can actually accept a defeat in the cup due to needing to rest key players, as we focus on the league, but could have done with the confidence boost. I feel a lot better about Spurs now, assuming Matip returns and hopefully Henderson as well.

Have to say that I would like to see Thiago as an #8 and not a #6. He is wasted so far back. If Henderson is still injured push Gini to #6 instead as he does not seem to be that effective going forward.

Also against the mid table teams downwards, I would like Klopp to take risk a and play Nat together with Matip at the back and move Fabinho back as DM where he rightfully belongs. Fab, Thiago Hendo midfield would rejuvenate us. Nothing to lose now at this stage.

Finally really think we have no luck. Soft foul on Cavani by Fab albeit Bruno's goal was very good. Our move out from Melwood has been a disaster as well, bad Feng Shui?

Get In, absolutely Buzzing!

Great fighting performance and a great result. Should have been 5-1.
Sometimes you don't get the result you deserve, and the way things were going I feared it might be the same, but the Champions were back to remind everyone that class is permanent.

Like what Klopp said post match, "we were us". So happy for Jurgen after what has probably been his most difficult month yet at Liverpool.

Well done Redmen! Big shout outs to Bobby dazzler(when he dazzles Sadio and Mo go up another level) , Trent(welcome back) and our ageless machine Milner. Klopp moving Thiago up to #8 and Gini to #6 seems the way to go. Hendo as always being our Captain Marvel and credit to Nat when he came on, should be ahead of Rhys although our back line needs to go deep if we have no choice but to play such a make shift CB lineup.

On our horrendous CB situation, really don't know what to say now. Kinda like the Twilight Zone. Gotta feel for Matip because he was really good in the first 45mins and has always been class on the field. But these never ending injuries of his are reaching breaking point for us. Now made even worse with Fabinho's latest injury. Obviously we need a proper experienced replacement CB now(actually we need two) but don't think it is going to happen. Sigh.

Oh well, let me try and end on a positive note, especially after our Redmen gave us such an uplifting performance last night.

Wouldn't it be nice if we are 7 points behind City, beat them at Anfield to make it 4 and then win the title by 1 point.

That'll be sweeter than last year. Probably not happening, but let's dream a little:D

Salah's goal which was a beauty should have been allowed imo. The handball incident happened in Liverpool's half n there were a few passes of the ball after that before Salah's ferocious shot which ended in the top corner. Some leeway should have been given as the handball didn't lead to the goal. But knowing the poor EPL refereeing standards n biasness against Pool, definitely the goal would be ruled out!

Did you all read about the half time implosion in the Spurs dressing room during their match against us? Mourinho basically tore into the team and blamed Aurier for the late goal conceded. Quarrelled so much he substituted Aurier and Aurier went home immediately. Their team was in chaos and that was worsened by TAA's early 2nd half goal. Quite interesting to read. We have not been playing well against teams that parked the bus and Mourinho is like the most famous bus parking manager.

Really weird season. All of our 4 CB from our championship winning squad is no longer playing for us regularly this season. Real life more extreme than playing Football Manager. I think every team will struggle. Hope we get a new CB before Jan window closes.

Quite happy looking at the Table this morning, could have been worse. Unfortunately it seems like City's title to lose now but from 2nd to possibly 11th appears to be tight and bunched up at the moment.

Any win will do tonight. Just need to back up what we did on Thursday and find some consistency. WH will sit back anyway; so we should go for it. Antonio and Soucek, the new Fellaini for Moyes:D, worry me.

Important that we just have to try and not give away silly free kicks and try our best to not give them corners, they will be very dangerous; but this is also the reason why I would play Phillips(Fab still out, really hope he is back for the City match though) , he is excellent in the air as proven by the game at Anfield.

Come on you Reds!

Ben Davies: Liverpool agree £2m fee with Preston for defender

Full name Benjamin Keith Davies[1]
Date of birth 11 August 1995 (age 25)[2]
Place of birth Barrow-in-Furness, England
Height 6 ft 1 in (1.85 m)[3]
Position(s) Centre back / Left back[4]

https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/12204919/ben-davies-liverpool-agree-2m-fee-with-preston-for-defender

This deal makes sense with Ben Davies straight away slot in to CB without covid-19 restrictions and quarantine. Also allowed to field English player for CL without having to omit any senior player in the CL 25 man roster.

Klopp is wary that Ben Davies will sit on bench when VVD and Gomez return to the squad.

Looks like we have our Mentality Monsters mojo back:cool:

Sounds like a broken record but fact of the matter is, but for these blasted injuries, we would be sitting comfortably at the top of of the Table and well on our way to retaining the title with #20:(

Anyways, Klopp smiling again makes me very happy:) Jurgen found the right solutions with our limited squad last night. Played an interesting 4-3-1-2 kinda diamond and his sub replacements were spot on.

Nat was assured, our Captain Marvel Hendo was Boss, Gini at #6 again was and is the way to go allowing for a fluid dynamic press, control and domination of the game. Trent's getting back into the groove, Thiago's passing is lovely, Shaq was immense, Jones' immediate impact coming on was great and even the Ox's cameo performance was good, not forgetting the hard work put in by Origi.

But of course the biggest shout out has to go to our Egyptian Pharaoh...Mo was absolutely world class last night:cool: That second goal in particular was truly amazing! Hope Salah can carry on banging them in from now on. "Mo...Tell us about your barren run?" "I don't like VAR":D

Oh yeah, the moment between Klopp and Milner after the first goal was pure class!! Also I notice Martin Tyler still being the biased douchebag commentator that he is when it comes to our matches.

We move onto Brighton next. Believe and lets see where this takes us now in a very strange and bizzare season.

More info on incoming Ben Davies, @ 25 years old and for 2 mio pounds I think he is decent addition to the much needed defence. And frankly who would not want to play for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp???

He’s a left-footed, usually left-sided centre-back and playing on the left side, he compliments well with Andy Robertson.

I think some of you need to read this about Matip by Klopp https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/fir...jury-diagnosis simply Matip has been on borrowed time since the beginning of the season and because of the loss of VVD and Gomez, basically he has been asked to keep going as long as possible but came to a head against Spurs. I think you should give Matip some praise there. I look forward to seeing him fully fit for next season - he is not going anywhere.

Btw don't underestimate Brighton, they are a good team with a capable manager notwithstanding their current table position. Expect a tough tricky match. Any win will do.

Apparently even the made up crowd was booing us last night, at Anfield no less! Wow really depressing man.

Bizarre, considering how well we played in the last two games. Did not even have a clear cut chance in this game. Only players with any sort of credit last night were Henderson, Phillips and Kelleher.

Brighton defended very well, scored, and looked the more likely to score another, while we didn't have any real chances. So, yes, they deserved it.

Love Klopp to bits but have to say, think we would have been better off playing Davis in the backline and pushing Henderson into midfield. And Jones should have started this game. This was not the game for Gini or Milner.

No other option for me now, get Davies and Kabak in and then play Fabinho, Henderson and Thiago in midfield. What have we got to lose?

I agree with you. We cannot lose the midfield. It affects our ability to score. Our defence is super weak these days. Have to score more goals. Otherwise it will be like against Brighton again, we dominated possession only to have 1 shot on goal. Our makeshift midfield is not creating good chances for our front 3. Thiago is nice control but no serious contribution. Just slowing us down.
I give up on them... Don't feel like watching them anymore!

Don't give up. Our recent results.. quite good for waking up. So many of our 2nd team are just living on past reputation. Time to clear out the rot that is Oxlade Chamberlain, Keita, Origi, Shaqiri, Matip. Think of the wages we can save and get younger guys who are willing to fight on the field. Ox was just jogging around. No rush to go back and defend, no rush to go attack. As long as i am jogging in the right direction, I hope no one notices I am just trying to pass time.

Looked at the Table this morning and felt quite happy, it could have been worse.

Next run of matches all 6 pointers starting with City tonight followed by Leicester and Everton. Really tough run but I think the best way to approach this is to just take it one game at a time and let's see where this shall take us.

Notice Pep suddenly getting prickly over some of Jurgen's recent comments over City's 'extra rest period' which might be a good thing:D.

Novelty for Sterling to be playing in a boo-free Anfield. Maybe Sky could add boos to the fake crowd noise every time he touches the ball:p Looking forward to seeing what Kabak makes of him, assuming Ozan starts. Would have liked Jurgen to take the risk and just go for it playing Davies/Phillips/Kabak at CBs and pushing Fabinho back up to MF together with Henderson and Thiago. But from Jurgen's presser unlikely, so Henderson pushed back up to MF at the very least should be the way to go. Hope we don't gift City any red cards or pens.

Genuinely staggered by what I've witnessed last night. We are awful. Not sure who it's on? Klopp? The players? The training regime? The missing players? An absolute catastrophe. Next 2 games will make or break our season, now we'll see what these boys are made of.

But please please Klopp lets use these new CBs. Bold decisions have to be made and risks taken to snap us out of this by playing the 2 new CBs and putting Hendo/Winj and Fab in front as a screen for protection vs Leicester and Everton. The forwards need that stable midfield platform too, Thiago in front in his best position.

It's top 4 or bust now, but we have to get the high press back and a dominating midfield focal point.

As an aside, got to say Pep is in his element and Foden has come of age.

in the blink of one match, we turn from title contenders to top 4 contenders. sigh...........

in the 1st half we were pretty evenly matched. then in the 2nd half a series of errors made us pay. we should be doing the pressing instead we were pressed into errors.

why was Sterling and Foden given such freedom into the box???

why was Nat Philips not used as CB pairing with Hendo? Fabinho could have played in front of these 2 providing additional cover.

i'm not a fan of passing the ball to the back and to the GK. it's an accident waiting to happen. and AB reminded us of the mistake with Karius.

It is a good wake up call for the stingy owners. It's a good wake up call to remove the non-performing players too. No point paying Keita, Ox, Origi, Shaqiri if they cannot step up when needed. That Greek leftback is also about to be thrown out if he is not even good enough to rotate with Robertson.

Klopp also lost the plot already.. Duno what Klopp was mumbling about post match interview. He was too afraid to try out his new players n instead opted for 2 midfielders to be CBs. Judas Sterling was having a fun time running around Taa which I thought brought down the entire Pool's back line...

......... i'm not a fan of passing the ball to the back and to the GK. it's an accident waiting to happen. and AB reminded us of the mistake with Karius.

AB shouldn't have been called back for this game..... taking painkillers before a match may be common practice among outfield players without much dire consequences but is a critical mistake for goalie as the symptoms or side effects may include loss of sensation, drowiness, disorientation, momentary weakness, numbness, dead leg etc.

I am certain AB's mistakes were related to his consumption of the painkillers.

Dirk Kuyt
08-02-2021, 10:33 PM
Klopp also lost the plot already....

Actually Liverpool was playing well for much of the game..... they only fell apart after AB's mistakes.
I am sure the outcome would have turned out differently if only our strikeforce had taken their chances earlier in the game.... usual story of wasted chances. Seems like the forwards have lost their scoring boots.

escobar43535
09-02-2021, 03:06 PM
Generally agree with what Dirk said above.

Perhaps Alisson was rushed back because Kelleher was injured? These injuries have literally killed our season. For me Alisson is still one of the best keepers in the world but his big flaw is that he does not get the ball out quick enough and he must stop pussy footing around in the penalty area like he did on Sunday. Sorting those problems out is all that is needed.

Back to the match. Saw it again and now don't think we were bad. I do think City could have shown more given the plaudits they've had recently. It was cagey for swathes, we were a little sluggish initially and it does seem a little overly evident right now, that we're missing fearlessness in our play. You could see it in parts, a few times we would press brilliantly and win the ball in an excellent area, but the conviction isn't there to punish it. The ball would end up back in our own half.

I think City were neat enough but ultimately we were still the side to fashion the best chances in the first half. I think the end was a harsh scoreline. City were fine, nothing extraordinary. The nature of Alisson's mistakes was just incomprehensible(rush back from illness seems to be the only reasonable explanation).

To be honest, incomprehensible could end up being a fitting title for our season review. It's just been madness.

Anyway, he and all of us will be back. Time to get behind the team.

Kelleher seems not available, so only Adrian left???

well Alisson prevented a 4th goal by LC.

JH should not play in the CB position. that's my opinion.

I disagree. Cannot play him as a 6 though as defensively he is weak. He is not Alonso. Alonso can pass well but Alonso is good at tackling too. Thiago is float like a butterfly but doesn't sting like a bee

Confidence shot again. Heads gone. Klopp looks a broken man, really feel for him especially after he lost his mother and could not say goodbye to her.

Truly, truly gutted with that. We were well on top for 75 minutes and then just capitulated. I know injuries have played a massive part in our season, but we cannot legislate for individual errors. And bad errors at that. Conceding the first was bad enough with VAR, but what on earth was Alisson doing rushing out like that? There was no shout, otherwise we would have heard it on the microphones. Even Jurgen after the match said he couldn't hear a shout if there was one. Completely took Kabak out.

Before the game, we hear that Ben Davies took a knock and Origi has a hamstring issue. Then Milner lasts 17 minutes and it's another hamstring. On commentary they mentioned that it's 10 first-teamers out at the moment. With a premiership squad of 25, it means your already down to 15, which essentially gives no chance to rotate players and give anyone a rest.

There are several teams with games in hand on us. 4th spot seems to be fading away like our season. We are truly up against it now, and there is nothing we can do but ride it out and see where we finish.

Leipzig away next, oh man just have to hope for the best.

This was the second game on the bounce where I watched and didn't see us losing until the defensive mistakes. And then you see everything drain from us. Then you know it's done.

Klopp needs to adjust his system. Needs to take risks. Time to play Hendo back where he belongs. Go with Nat and Kabak at CB.

Formation that I am craving for

Alisson

TAA Kabak Nat Robbo

Hendo Fabinho

Thiago

Salah Firmino Mane

Let’s roll with this. Nothing to lose at this point.

agree we should have proper CBs and Alisson should stop playing the sweeper role.

we should ditched our high line defence and the 2 CBs should go no further than 1/4 pitch in view of our weak defence.

The Leicester guy got a whole hand across the line yet Mane one is still up for debate..some how i feel there is a conspiracy by the FA and Ref association to let more decision go against Liverpool so as to ensure they don't run away with the title like last year..

There were news Klopp had a disagreement with Management on the transfers for winter window. He wanted a CB but Liverpool refused to spend and there was a small fire.

This is a very tough period and I am really concerned with our injury problems. Too many players in the treatment room and the question points again to his training methods which was highlighted during his early days at Liverpool.

With our players aging especially in midfield we need to have a good summer window. Henderson and Tiago will be over 30 while Milner is only fit to see out the game and I have no faith in Keita which leaves us with only Fabinho and Jones.

Kabak should be returned to Schalke.... he does not have enough quality for the BPL. He was lost and JH had to keep telling him what to do.... and it was partly his faults that led to the equaliser and 2nd goal.
His position played Maddison onside for the equalizer and while everyone is blaming Alisson for the 2nd goal but Kabak was contributory without communicating with Alisson and rushing in blindly. The penalty box is always belong to the goalie at all times and Kabak should have pulled back to let Alisson space to clear the ball.

Playing Ben Davis would be a better choice as he has BPL experience.

Arsene Wenger: “One of the main reasons [Liverpool are struggling] is they lost Van Dijk. One of their main strengths was winning the ball up high with Henderson in midfield. By putting Henderson at the back they lost that.”

Agree with you on Kabak..... quality wise he certainly is not EPL material. I feel Nat Phillips / Rhy Williams are better than Kabak.
Kabak has a nickname in the Bundesliga "calamity oz" - this was coined by Schalke fans after Schalke let in 34 goals in consequtive games with Kabak playing CB in all of these games and his mistakes contributed to the goals. He was dropped from the 1st team after that and playing mainly with the reserves.

Therefore I was surprised when Liverpool made a loan move for him when they have better defenders than Kabak in their academy team.

The only reason I can think of is probably Klopp is helping his good friend Wagner to salvage Kabak's career.

Honestly i don't know what anyone was expecting? A 20 year old CB from Germany on debut playing along side a midfielder who should not be playing CB.

The whole situation is a mess and any expectation on Kabak to solidify the issues at the back is unfair.

Personally i had my doubts about us targeting Kabak as a signing based on some performances I've seen in Germany, but even then he was surrounded by absolute crap and no 20 year old could be expected to carry a team at CB. So with how much of a shambles this situation is, think he should not be thrown under the bus.

The fact that we refused an obligation to buy is telling, but Kabak needs support and patience whilst here. He is only here for the short term. No doubt about it.

And as for Ben Davies, think he is also only here to make up the numbers - Klopp said in normal circumstances we wouldn't be shopping at Preston North End for a defender. That said, I do agree that since Ben has English league experience albeit not at BPL level, I would not say no to throwing him in as well so as to move Hendo and Fabinho back to CM positions where they belong and are desperately needed.

Also agree, best for Nat to be paired with either Kaban or Ben and also to stop this high line defence for the time being.

As for tonight's match against Leipzig, really worried but at least it’s a break from this god damn BPL.

Just hoping for a good performance over 90 mins. All the talking has been done at this point and nothing has really changed. We’re going to get no favours to get out of this rut and sooner or later we’ll get a win.

Back to basics, at the very least let’s just ensure we fight with everything we have, and run as hard as we can. Those are the things which we can control, the result will be what it is.

With our injury list, may not be a bad thing to get kicked out of the CL and focus on the top 4. I think Kabak should be given more time. Almost all of our purchases have been given time to adapt to the team. Robertson and Fabinho were give 2-3 months before they play regularly. Kabak does not have this luxury of time so let's not be too harsh on him.

I think we can forget about Minamino. Even in an injury ravaged squad, he has no chance to play. I think Liverpool is loaning him out to show potential buyers what he can do. Grujic was loaned out as we have exceeded our foreign player quota. Selling Minamino frees up 1 foreign player too. Things are different now with Brexit.

Ozan Kabak played well tonight. 2 bad mistakes, 2 clinical goals, 2 away game advantage goals for us too

Just nice to see us win again!

For me there were 2 massive differences last night.

1. We didn’t get shafted by crap officials

2. We played for 90 minutes instead of 75

Had we done that in the last 2 games I believe we would had at least got a draw from City and beaten Leicester.

Now we need to get back to performing for 90 minutes game in, game out.

Oh, and Kabak was not bad by the way.

The only negative for me was Ox. He’s way off it.

Also wish that long range shot from Robbo had gone in, would have been so good!

Haaland would cost alot more n Haaland is a typical centre fwd which doesn't suit Klopp's playing style..
The player that Pool missed out was Mahrez, he was very keen to come to Pool n he's worth every penny.

After the Sterling saga, Liverpool does not wish to deal with players with unreasonable agents. Haaland wanted to set a release clause etc. Better not to deal with such agents for team unity
