A 73-year-old woman from eastern China is living by the lifts outside her son’s flat after her daughter-in-law asked her to leave because she finds her “difficult to live with”, according to a news website report.
The woman has been sleeping by the elevators at the block of flats in Xiamen in Fujian province since last Friday, Taihainet.com said.
Photographs show the woman, whose full name was not given, sitting among piles of daily necessities such as clothes, wash basins and shelves.

She used to live with her later husband in Xiamen’s Jinbang district, the report said.
She was later given a flat in another district of the city after her old one was taken by the government and her younger son and his wife moved in with her.
The daughter-in-law recently asked Wang to leave as they always argued, the report said.
She suggested her mother-in-law rent a flat or live with her elder son.
The older woman thought rents were too expensive and it was not convenient for her to live with her other son as he only has two rooms in his apartment, the report said.
The mother eventually left to live in the corridor outside her flat.
Police have been called to help solve the problem, but no agreement has been reached, according to the article.
