TOC News Tonight – The History of Backstabbing

We present episode five of TOC News Tonight for the Singapore General Elections 2015 (where tonight is probably the next day).

In this episode, Thum Ping Tjin talks about the history of backstabbing, in light of comments made by a certain politician recently in his rally speech.

Thum also speaks with Prof Chua Beng Huat. Prof Chua, who received his PhD from York University, Canada, is the Provost Chair Professor, Faculty of Arts and Social Science, at the National University of Singapore.

He is also Head of the Department of Sociology, Convener of Cultural Studies Programmes, FASS and Research Leader, amongst other roles at NUS. Before joining NUS, he was director of research at the Housing and Development Board. His research areas include housing and urban studies, cultural studies in Asia, East Asian pop culture and comparative politics in Southeast Asia. He is a founding co-editor of Inter-Asia Cultural Studies.
