Hello Mountbatten Residents, picnic time!
I’ll be organizing a picnic at Wilkinson Interim Park, near a supporter’s residence this Sunday. He’s kindly agreed to help prepare some makan for us to enjoy. The details of the picnic are as follows: -
Venue: Wilkinson Interim Park (See photo. Parking at Katong Swimming Complex)
Date: Sunday, 23 August 2015
Time: 5 – 7 p.m. (so you can make it back to watch PM’s NDR speech)
Bring: Makan to share, pets to play, and friends to talk

Here’s what the event’s about:
Some of you in the constituency would like to find out more about me and speak to me face-to-face. Many of you live in condominiums and private housing.
I’ve been doing my walks in the HDB estates (on weekdays) and food centres (on weekends) since 2011, but I’ve had some difficulty meeting residents in condominiums, because I need permission from your MCSTs to speak to you.
Unlike Mr Lim Biow Chuan, the incumbent MP, I haven’t been able to hold dialogue sessions in private estates. For instance, Mr Lim recently held a dialogue with residents at a condo in Tanjong Rhu on 17 August. He also visited another condo in Tanjong Rhu for a chit chat session on 29 July 2015, as well as various condominiums for National Day decorating and Funpack distribution.
I’ve been doing my best to get permission from your MCSTs to speak to you for sometime now and have sent out 23 letters to MCSTs around the constituency to request access to speak to you and understand your concerns and hopes for Mountbatten.
Unfortunately, of the 23 letters I sent out, 4 condominiums have rejected my requests outright. Another 18 have yet to reply.
Despite the disappointing reply rate, I’m not discouraged: I’m determined to personally meet as many of Mountbatten’s residents as possible.
So, that’s what this picnic is for
This is a purely social event for us to get to know each other, something of a block party to celebrate the kampong spirit of Mountbatten. There will be no political speeches. Please bring your pets!
