All this talk about town council management.
Voters should not vote based on whether town upgrade, cleanliness or amenities.
It should be based on national issues.

The importance of opposition getting 1/3 seats and more, to wrestle the 2/3 majority of the ruling party.
Opposition parties should spend more time explaining to voters that this is imperative and not be be swayed
into ridiculous gutter politics like orh luak or omelette.

Opposition parties should spend a lot more time explaining that even if the ruling party wins 1/3 popular votes, based
on the structure of GRCs and SMCs, as long as PAP wins each one 51%, it wins all the seats and can change the constitution and laws without any chance of veto power, even though only 1/3 agrees with the govt chosen.
This is the illusion of democracy caused by the 'first pass the post' flawed electoral system.

Many do not understand that every vote counts and not only that, based on the manner the NMP and NCMP, the two negates each other and becomes ineffective because they are on top of the 89 seats that are elected. Hence, the opposition must get more than 1/3 seats to be effective at all. If not, this election is like all the rest, a TOTAL WASTE OF TIME.

Voters must not be laid into this BIG MENTAL TRAP.....because many do not understand how important each vote is and why they vote and what is the purpose of each and every vote.

If you like the existing PAP govt, but you like real debate in lumparliament and checks and balances, then you have to ensure your vote helps to wrestle the 2/3 majority of the ruling party, yet you still have the ruling party PAP.

Of course, in the long run, based on the manner the politics are played out in Singapore, it is inevitable that the best form of govt in Singapore is a COALITION GOVT, for better check and balances and making all MPs and Ministers and the cabinet work for their keep, which is a lot of taxpayers' money, mind you. Wake Up people!!
