We shall have a series of this topic leading to British to apologize for drugging to China Chinese and their (Pommies) British Subjects mainly Chinese in Singapore. For a British government to drug their non-white British Subjects mainly Chinese for drug money to fund their British Empire expansion was unacceptable.
Pre Opium war China
In the pre-opium war period (before the British industrial revolution) the Qing Dynasty was a prosperous and peaceful Chinese nation. And China was always a manufacturing and trading country supply to world market.
The overseas Chinese, diaspora, in the SEA region are traders and merchants in the SEA regions and this region was also prosperous and peaceful in the 1700s.
In North Asia countries, even the Japanese was also one of the prosperous countries trading with China.
Today, you can see for yourself the China Chinese was a manufacturing based nation supply to world market. As such has anything change, status quo compare to pre-opium war period under the Qing dynasty?
