An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:

A shipment of 330 tons of frozen meat was seized in Yunnan province’s Lancang county and turned over for inspection a few days ago. The shipment was being transported by a total of 11 trucks and was worth over 5 million RMB.

The frozen food items were mainly beef, cow stomach, chicken feet, and pig feet. The shipment also included seafood items such as salmon and cod. Much of the stock had expired past its quality guarantee date and many of the items were discolored and shaped unnaturally.

The food items were en route straight for sale in Kunming but were seized when it was realized that they did not have any clear legal certifications or paperwork on their origins, or even a border entry date for that matter.

The discovery of outdated food is worrisome enough for food safety in China, however, something even more terrible than this foul meat was made known: Frozen food dating back from World War II has been smuggled in before.
