It was revealed in court yesterday (26 May) that the former SCDF technology director, Jeganathan Ramasamy, allegedly gave one iPad to his daughter and sold the other to SCDF Chief Eric Yap Wee Teck for $200, the media reported.

Jeganathan is currently on trial for the criminal breach of trust involving the misappropriation of 2 iPad tablets in September 2011. The 2 iPads were said to have entrusted to him for testing of SCDF mobile applications.

At the time of the alleged offence, Eric Yap was the senior director for emergency services. He is now the Commissioner of SCDF.

After his predecessor, former SCDF commissioner Peter Lim Sin Pang, was arrested for corruption in Jan 2012, Eric Yap was appointed as the new Commissioner of SCDF on 1 February 2012. At the time of his appointment, Eric Yap said in his speech....
