Just a few days ago a Sinkie ministar, a member of the world's most expensive gabrament, announced the world that the "hallowed" name of Lee Kuan Yew would be protected under a yet-to-be enacted legislation. Some Muslim countries which practise Salafism have anti-blasphemy laws. Sinkieland will have its own blasphemy law soon.
It goes to show how much of a democracy is left in Sinkieland: that the views of the ruling elite who are in the minority are to be imposed on the whole city-state of 5.8 million inhabitants.
It also shows attempts by the same elite to create a cult of Kuanism. Such an act will never succeed in Malaysia for Islam prohibits the worship of dead people.
According to a little bird from the West, it comes right after a Sinkie kangaroo court was coerced to stand down--for the time being--a criminal lawsuit filed against the 16+ year-old Amos Yee. The Sinkie legal system came under intense scrutiny by the global legal fraternity. Legal experts--both local and foreign--piled scorn and ridicule on Sinkie kangaroo courts for abusing the Harassment Act. How could a dead man in the person of Old Fart be protected under the said Act?
Just to be clear I'm no PAP porlumpar, sicko-fan (sycophant) or crony but I'm all for the yet-to-be enacted legislation to protect the name of the "Founding Father**" of Sinkieland PROVIDED THAT it extends the same protection to the "Founding Grandfather" as well. The law has to be fair and has to be SEEN to be fair and just. Moreover without the wisdom and foresight of the "Founding Grandfather" there would be no foundation on which for the "Founding Father" to build upon.
Under the proposed legislation and if it's just and fair in its scope and application, Raffles Hotel, Raffles Country Club and Raffles Corporation, etc...will have to change their names.
**In the one or two years before the passing of the late Emperor, PAP porlumpars and cronies, with the help of the state-controlled media, have come up with laughable titles such as "Founding Father" for Old Fart. The title exposed their futile attempts to change Sinkieland's historical records by suggesting that Sinkieland was founded not in 1819 but in 1965. Or, according to some porlumpars, there was a second founding of the tiny island-nation.
In their attempt to change historical narratives, they have followed in the footsteps of the despicable Shinzo Abe, the much reviled Japanese nationalist who tried, time and again, to change the historical records concerning Japanese atrocities committed in Asia during the Second World War.
