Jack Donegan, the son of a North Kingstown woman who recently had charges of violating the state's social host law dismissed, was charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct, police told NBC 10 on Monday.

Jayne Donegan pleaded not guilty to having an underage drinking party at her home. She later made a $5,000 donation to Amos House.
Police said Jack Donegan punched someone in the head and back repeatedly, causing the victim to suffer a concussion.
Police said the assault happened on April 29, after Donegan accused the victim of stealing jewelry from the house.

The victim told police that he and others were at the house drinking shortly before the assault happened. Everyone was in the living room and the victim told police that Jayne Donegan was home but later left to go out for the evening.

According to police, after the assault, the victim received numerous text messages from Jack Donegan asking him not to press charges and offered him $500.

Police said another person at the house recorded video of the assault and that the video was "later circulated." Police said in the video, Donegan was seen punching the victim repeatedly.

Jack Donegan surrendered to police on Friday and was arraigned on simple assault and disorderly conduct charges. He was released on $1,000 personal recognizance.
