After DPM Tharman wrapped up the Budget debate, MP started to file “cuts” (i.e, typically a question or suggestion on a ministry’s programmes and policies) to participate in the Committee of Supply (COS) debates, which began on 5 Mar.
Both PAP and opposition MPs filed some 400 over “cuts” to give their views on the programmes of each ministry. Manpower Ministry (MOM) received the highest number of cuts, followed by the National Development Ministry and the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY).

The COS debates concluded on 13 Mar, with Speaker of Parliament Halimah Yacob giving her comment, “It is clear that there was unanimous support for this year’s budget, not just from the government Members but also from the non-government Members. There is a general consensus that this budget has indeed lived up to its name of being a jubilee budget to prepare us for the future and to build a fair and inclusive society.”

However, it has been observed that PAP MP Alvin Yeo who has filed 8 “cuts”, didn’t even turn up to speak on any of them....http://www.tremeritus.com/2015/03/21...budget-debate/ (http://www.tremeritus.com/2015/03/21/mp-alvin-yeo-absents-himself-from-whole-budget-debate/)
