Celebrating his 80th birthday yesterday (March 13), Veteran politician and Secretary General of the Singapore People's Party, Chiam See Tong, said that people should follow their dreams no matter what.
He explained that academic grades don't matter and he also thanked everyone for their birthday wishes.
Mr Chiam was the MP for Potong Pasir SMC for 27 years until 2011 when he moved to contest in Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC but lost.
His wife, Lina Chiam is an NCMP.

Thank you everyone for the warm birthday wishes conveyed to Mr Chiam! Here is a message from him to all of you:
"Thank you all - Opposition supporters, family, friends, members of the public and the ruling party, for your well wishes and overwhelming support on my 80th birthday. As Winston Churchill said, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." I have lived my life with that tenet in mind and my wish is for all Singaporeans to believe the same. Don't give up and continue to soldier on. Follow your dreams and believe in yourself, no matter your academic grade, to achieve the goals that you set out for yourself." Thank you, Yauming Chiam for the excellent photographs.
