Warning to all senior citizens who travel by public transport

There's no such as free lunch in Sinkieland. Remember that.

After each and every bus and/or rail journey, remember to check your EZ-link card for over-deductions.

If you think that by travelling during off-peak hours, you will receive rebates from the Sinkie gabrament, you're well and truly mistaken. What rebates the Sinkie gabrament gives to you senior citizens, it will take away manifold from you in other ways.

Below is a letter published on page A20 of The Straits Times, February 23, 2015:

Overcharging of bus fares

My wife and I, both seniors, take public buses all the time. Since the increase in bus fares last April, we have had to check our ez-link fare deductions every time, as we have encountered many instances of over-deductions.

Each time, it would be 5 cents to 7 cents more, even though the fare table at the bus stop does not indicate any increase for the journey we took. Whenever we file a claim, the usual response is that feedback will be given to the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and that it will call us. To date, we have not heard from LTA on this matter.

The amounts may be small but will be substantial when accumulated over time.
