A bogus doctor from central China killed an 11-year-old boy with a sore throat after he cut his neck with a scalpel and the child bled to death, according to a media report.
The man told the boy’s mother that he needed blood letting to cure a tonsil infection and he is then thought to have cut an artery, Henan People’s Radio Station reported on its website.
The man ran a clinic in Ruzhou that claimed to specialise in throat problems.
The bogus doctor tried to stop the bleeding, but the boy had died by time paramedics were able to treat him, the report said.
The doctor has fled.
Villagers said the man had treated patients for years, but health officials confirmed he had no qualifications to practise medicine and the clinic was illegal.
Police are investigating.
A banner was later draped across the entrance to the illegal clinic saying, “punish this doctor and give me back my son’s life”.
