Police shut on-campus 'brothel' in Wuhan

BEIJING - A student identity card gets one lots of discounts, from meals to airfares, and even for computers and movies.
But in Wuhan, China, a student ID card entitled one to "special services" at a so-called foot-bath club.
How special were these services? Very, it seems, as the "foot-bath club" turned out to be a brothel.
A tertiary institution in Wuhan city has come under fire after media reports suggested that the school had been operating a brothel on campus.
Students from Wuchang Polytechnic School have reported to local police that a hotel next to their dormitory was offering paid sex to students.
The students alleged that the hotel, run as school property, operated a foot-bath club and was blatantly promoting its "special services", saying a discount would be offered if students showed their ID cards.
Investigative reporters from the Beijing Times confirmed that the hotel hosted prostitutes.
It was later discovered that the hotel was owned by the brother-in-law of the school's principal.
The police have since closed down the foot-bath club in the hotel and its management have been taken away for further investigation.
