Hey bros, this is just a observation. I have found most of chio young girls these days are always with ang mohs, mixed bros or local bros who speak with a slang or speak proper english without singlish.

I am a local bro. Studied locally in neighborhood school and went to NJC, NUS. I'm a very standard bro. I'm mostly a chinese oriented bro at home. Parents watch chinese shows and I like Korean dramas and chinese shows. Of course i watch english shows too but mostly chinese.

I have found it hard to date some chio local girls. It's easy to spot them. They speak proper english, no singlish. They see it as being uncouth or low class. They have good jobs - bankers, marketing, pr, media, fashion etc. They are well dressed and have a certain "smart girl" look. I think you know what i mean. Like atas!

I'm an ok looking bro but i have found i lose out to bros less attractive than me to these girls just cos they speak with a slang or "better" english. My english not bad. But i speak like a singaporean. Why is this not good enough for these girls? I dunno why there was to be a difference for them. I guess it's the same as us bros only looking for slim fair girls but i'm jealous that I have no chance. I cannot do fake accent. Sound bad and no point pretending.

The younger hot chicks these days are not chinese educated. In fact a lot of them try to shed their "singaporean-ness" so they dress more westernized and lose the singlish accent. It's also for their work. I think in general, businesses don't like dealing with singlish bros and gals, well at least the high end businesses. You are right about the atas part. Think most of these girls want to be in the higher end of society which is filled with expats, proper english speaking bros, diverse mix of people from all over the world. My advice is don't worry about these girls. If you like them, just be forward and ask them out. If they don't want to date you, who cares? Many fish in the sea. The type of girls you are talking about are plentiful in certain industries. Most of them studied overseas or have lots of friends of other races, hence the propensity for speaking english. Hey brudder. Came across ur post, so I thought I'll just share my 2 cents:

To begin with, I think many girls look for clues of success to help them to find a 'good' life partner - Is he a graduate? And if so, does he hold an MBA? Got fancy job title? drive a car? brand of watch? Speak good english? (Likely to mean if he is well-educated, and hence, good financial prospect), parents stay at private housing? You get the pic.

If my observation of girls is accurate, most of them are looking out for a better life with their life partner. So, tt person will need to be financially stable at e very least. Short, fat or ugly (not hideous la), still can accept. But then, this is only e most basic level of acceptance. Think of it as a pyramid, like a food pyramid you see in those healthly diet model. At the top most level, there are the see beh rich bros who are can have almost whatever they want - model-looking women, or smart OL professionals or girl next door kind who aren't as sophisticated but still pretty decent.

Next, we have the mass affluent bros - not fricking rich, but financially stable and at least can see some light in their financial / career down the road. This kind of bros can only opt for the max smart OLs kind and the not so demanding girl next door types.

Then come the working class bros - no offense, but I'm just categorising our own species (men) as segmented pyramid. So, we have decent, average pple making an honest living. Speak average english, singlish and maybe only mandarin. Throw in some dialect in their everyday conversation. Nothing wrong, just generalisation la. So what kind of girls will this category of bros have? My view: Girl next door and below.

So, as you can see, the food chain of power (money, in this game) allows those rich bastards to bed whomever they wish, fuck gorgeous high end escorts, models etc. They just need to flash their sports car, and the girls will flash their panties. That's for the naughty ones:)

It is due to our culture and upbringing, influencing the perception of girls.

In school, we are encouraged to speak Chinese only during Chinese lesson. The other 95% of the time we have to speak proper English, because everything is taught in English. Even the government also encourages us to speak proper English. This instills into our subconscious mind that English is superior to Chinese. Hence, proper English speakers = high class, Chinese/Singlish speakers = low class.

At home, the shows we watch when we are young all come from ang moh countries. Even the shows we watch throughout our youths are most likely ang moh shows. The pop idols we admire are also ang moh and they speak with their respective slangs. Again, this drives the perception that English with slang = high class.

These are probably just parts of the main reason. Then again, everybody is so unique, it's hard to come out with the whole story.
