Yet another SAF masturbation exercise. Giving awards to each other for anti piracy actions in the Gulf of Aden. Well, what about here? There were 2 piracy incidents last week, and the RSN was no where to be found. What is the record of RSN on piracy anyway? Arrested anyone? Shoot any pirates? rescued any hostages or goods? Lots of business here, the South China Sea and Straits of Malacca are some of the most pirate infested waters in the world. No need to go to the Middle East. Since their record in the Gulf of Aden is so great ("no successful pirate attacks in its area of responsibility"), why can't they duplicate this at home? Give medal for this of shit? SAF really is a joke.

193 Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) personnel were honoured for their contributions to international anti-piracy efforts at a ceremony on Friday (June 27).

SINGAPORE: For their contributions to international anti-piracy efforts in the Gulf of Aden, 193 Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) personnel were awarded the Overseas Service Medal (OSM) by Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen at Changi Naval Base on Friday (June 27).

Dr Ng commended the servicemen for their professionalism and dedication to the mission. He said the Gulf of Aden may be 4,000 nautical miles away, but it is a major waterway that connects Asia and Europe, and accounts for a significant portion of global trade.

The medal recipients were part of a group which responded to 21 calls for assistance and flew 81 helicopter sorties as it provided air surveillance and warded off suspicious boats in the Gulf Of Aden. During its mission, there were no successful pirate attacks in its area of responsibility.
