Just remembered I had this movie vcd after CatMan drop me a PM on this movie.

This is a rather old movie made by an Australian on a Thai Working Lady in Bangkok. Also have to thank MoonFace for giving me this VCD about 3 years ago.:p

The synopsis goes like this

The filmmaker was forty-three and his marriage had ended. he was trying to understand how love could be so banal and yet so profound. He came to Bangkok, the mecca for western men with fantasies of exotic sex and love without pain. He wanted to meet a Thai prostitute and make a film about it.

is the initial start of the movie and starts off with an interview with Aol's aunt in province. So Aol's aunt gave a short intro on Aol and why she started doing this trade. In the latter part, get to see Aol doing an interview on her feelings of how she felt in the trade

I think there is one way to upload to yousendit where others will not be able to delete the link, can only click download...not sure how it;s done though. :o
need to ask those who upload movie to ysi often.

I've only managed to download 1st 2 clips so far - megaupload seems to have some limit on download.

Anyways, good movie, espeicially for newbie tirak wannabes. Gives them an insight "behind the scenes".

But I worried after watching, newbie will feel so cham for the WL that they even more want to "rescue" them from the working life leh.

Any good ending for the movie or not?
I tried using bittorrent, but the seed can't seems to transfer. And we need a lot of people to download before the speed becomes fast or else it will be around the same as megaupload too.

Actually depends on how one see the movie.
In the 2nd part, it tells how the WL thinks of the customers, the money and the work involved. Then after that another interview on the inner self of how they feel.
Either u will see it that they have no choice or they chosen this path for themselves.

The ending has a twist. I can't really remember the details. The Australian director who filmed this movie gave her money to buy a land before he went back to Australia. But when he went back to thailand, Aoi went back to the trade again

People will say Stephen Leather's Private Dancer portrays the WL in a very bad light. Then what about Dennis O'Rourke's Good Woman of BKK? Does it protray the WL in a better ray of light?

Private Dancer is a cautionary tale drawn from the farang scene. It is based on a lot of reality - a reality attested to by the many reader posts on Stickman's site. So I don't think Stephen Leather set out to portray WL in bad light. BTW, his publisher wouldn't publish Private Dancer for a long time. I read it several years ago in PDF form, which Stephen Leather put on his website for download.

I was watching the documentary "The Corporation" last night. One of the interviewees said something which may well sum up the WL situation. He said the institution has a character of its own separate from the individuals that participate in the institution. Corporations are evil, but the people who work in them may be be the kindest, nicest souls around. Of course, there are evil people in corporations too. Another example is slavery. As an institution, slavery is evil, but there are kind slaveowners and cruel slaveowners.

So as an institution, prostitution may be evil, but there are good and bad WLs. The institution drives the individual participants to behave in certain ways which they may not, if they were not part of the institution. The WL who lies and cheats and has multiple tiraks is just acting out the scripts and roles that the institution imposes on her. In the flesh trade, if the WL so easily succumbs to any kindness shown to her by a customer and falls in love, she might end up badly burnt. So they adopt certain beliefs, i.e. the "credo" of the institution, which is passed on from more experienced WL to junior WL. That credo is:
1. Men are liars and fcukers. You can't trust them.
2. Don't ever fall in love with a cheongster.
3. Go GL for work, just fcuk the john and take his money. If he gives more money than the standard rate, take lor.
4. To get more business, must show some pretend TLC to the john. This way, will get better treatment, repeat customers and bigger tips.

Sounds familiar? These credo are the mirror image of what the experienced (and burnt) bros are telling the newbies:
1. WL are liars and heart-breakers. You can't trust them.
2. Don't ever fall in love with a WL.
3. Go GL to fcuk, just fcuk the WL and pay up. If she gives more than expected in terms of TLC, take lor.
4. To get more interesting cheong experience, can show some pretend TLC to the WL. This way, will get gf treatment, maybe even free fcuks.

Are all WL evil? You draw your own conclusion.

Came accross this book "My Name Lon - You Like Me" by Derek Sharron, picked it up at BKK airport, based on a true story of a AGG WL. Less dramatic compare to Steven Leather, but just as useful for comparative purposes and understanding of the trade and the WL.

This movie have 2 vcds

The 1st 4 clips 40 mins are from the 1st vcd
The 2nd 40 mins I divide into 5 clips for smaller downloads.

Now uploading and will probably post them when I am up in the morning

Then I will slowly dissect each and every clip.

bro this 'movie' from quite some time ago already......you can see old bangkok from the background. There was a big hooha to boycott this 'movie' back then as the 'film-maker' only paid the 'actress' a pittance for her efforts and he himself pocketed all the profits....still its a fairly good show and some of the morals still holds truth. Anyone wants the VCD I still got it :D

Maybe the reason why he kept all the profits could be he got "conned" by the girl by thinking that she will turn for good when he left bkk.

But then we will never know the real reason, or he could be greedy after all too.

So now distributing it in the form of freeware not sure hurt his profits or not.:p BUt then the movie not sold anymore, so upload also hope it will benefit people and give them more insight.

Anyone involved (on one way or another) with a WL in Thailand, or anyone at all with a penchant for good film should watch 2005's "Midnight My Love".

Its beautiful soundtrack, simplistic story-telling method, breathtaking cinematography (several shots of Bangkok at night are postcard perfect) and top-notch performances by the leads (Petchtai Wongkamlao and the gorgeous Woranut Wongsawan) make this a must-see.

From Wikipedia:

"Sombat is a taxicab driver in Bangkok. A loner, only seeks companionship through the melodramatic soap operas and old-time Thai pop ballads on his favorite AM radio station. He's picky about the fares he takes, and those passengers he does pick up invariable complain about the "Golden Oldies" radio show he's listening to. For those few co-workers that actually notice him, he's a source of amusement, a luddite who doesn't even own a mobile phone.

He follows a routine that has him driving the cab by night and sleeping by day in his small apartment. He eats at the same food stall and orders the same meal each day. Sometimes he'll visit a ballroom where big band music is played and there is dancing, but he always sits by himself and sips a Coke. He also writes letters to his radio station, hoping one night he'll hear his letter read on air.

For part of his evenings at work, he parks his cab in a queue outside a massage parlor. One night he picks up four "masseuses" as they are getting off work. Three of them tease him for listening to the old radio station, but the fourth, Nual, sits quietly, which catches Sombat's attention. The next night, Nual rides with Sombat again. She becomes a regular fare and the pair begin a friendship.

And Nual, in her job, takes men to their destinations, but never to where she needs to be. She's stuck there, working to send money home to her family in the rural provinces.

Nual is being pushed by her pimp to become the mistress for a gangster, but Sombat remains a loyal friend and continues to ferry her home each night. The story starts to take a strange turn when Sombat is held by the police for questioning, and he misses his appointment pick-up time with Nual. Sombat has a dark past that he's never let on about, and he grows distant from Nual, which pushes her closer to the gangster."

I'd especially like to thank Norikassan55 for recommending this piece of great film to me (just thought I'd nudge this along, Norikassan ;) great things ought to be shared).

It says as much about the power of film that it was able to send me to tears at the credits when I didn't understand a word of Thai. I know these things only happen in movies, but we're all allowed to dream. In a way, we're all different versions of the same Sombat. All of us.
