An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:

Actually this makes some sense, doesn't it?

"80% of unionized companies adopted the national wage guidelines for low wage workers in 2012. 90% of unionized companies adopted the national wage guidelines for low wage workers in 2013.

That means that if more companies are unionized, more low-wage workers have a much higher chance to get a pay raise??? At least $60 a month is little to us but a lot to them..."

"We are encouraged by the strong support for last year’s NWC guidelines for workers earning less than S$1,000. Within the unionised sector, we have taken the lead; with adoption rates of 80 per cent in 2012 and 90 per cent in 2013. Correspondingly, we are pleased that there is significant improvement in the adoption rates for this guideline among non-unionised companies."
