Or, they may learn how to overthrow a corrupt govt.

SINGAPORE: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday (May 23) issued a Travel Notice calling on Singaporeans to "seriously reconsider visiting Thailand at the moment", and for those already in the country to avoid protest sites and exercise "a high degree of caution".

Thai army chief General Prayut Chan-O-Cha led a coup on Thursday, announcing martial law and a 10pm curfew across the nation.

The Singapore MFA said on its website: "The situation is unpredictable and volatile, and may evolve quickly.

"Singaporeans in Thailand should monitor local news and developments closely and follow the instructions of local authorities. New instructions could be announced at short notice.

"Singaporeans should avoid large gatherings, as well as all protests sites and their vicinity. Singaporeans who are travelling to Thailand should exercise a high degree of caution and take all necessary precautions for personal safety, including purchasing comprehensive travel and medical insurance.

"In addition, Singaporeans are encouraged to eRegister with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at https://eregister.mfa.gov.sg/ so that we may contact you should the need arise. Singaporeans who are in need of consular assistance while in Thailand may contact our Embassy in Bangkok at 001-66-(81) 844 3580 ([email protected]), or the 24-hour MFA Duty Office at 6379 8800 ([email protected])."

The Singapore ministry's notice echoed a call put out by the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs earlier the same day. Full story at: http://cna.asia/1jIJfpb
