I've been living in China for the past 4 years and gathered lots of different views locally and overseas. And this is the problem we Singaporeans are facing now.

Singapore is an economy miracle that took less than 40 years since independence to transform into a wealthy, first world country.

A successful nation where many countries learnt from including China.

Deng xiaoping the great Chinese leader once said, Singapore is an eye opener and if Singapore could progressed so well, so could China. So Indeed, he went back to China and started the great China reform that made them the world number 2 economy and heading to number 1 in less than 10 years time.

To progress as a successful and wealthy Singapore, we needed to have an educated population workforce that includes educating the Women, unlike in the 60s and 70s where women's main role is to have kids and take good care of the family.

These days, women are well educated and shared the same platform in the workforce as men.

With success in hand, they literally do not need financial support from men and could support the whole family themselves. That explained why divorce rates are higher in educated nations.

With so much success on hand, Women do not want to have kids in their 20s or even 30s which leads to population declined.

To ensure the success of Singapore, the government needed to attract MNCs(multi nation company) to set up their HQ locally and bring their business here.

But the question is, with low birth rate and aging populations, how are these Big company going to recruit talents and workforce? The answer: Overseas.

The only solution to compensate population decline is to tap into overseas workers.

1) Cheap labour from Asean countries.(Usually never follow rules and regulations and laws are neglected)
2) Middle income workers from Highly educated Indians and Northern parts of China (Chinese from guangzhou, shanghai, beijing and fujian has the same opportunities back there and wouldn’t waste their time here in Sg earning a similar amount)
3) Highly paid talents from wealthy developed countries where they’re paid double or triple from their country. (the only way to bring them over)

Estimates of 2.3million foreigners or more in Singapore not including foreign spouse and new citizenship.

These foreigners are hardworking, educated, skilled and thirsty for success.

Singaporeans need to sit up, buckle up, upgrade, work 10 times harder and stop complaining as competition is right at your face. You loosen up, your job belongs to another foreigner that could do the same or better job and get paid lesser. They wouldn’t mind because when they convert into their currency, its so much times more.

Foreigners speak a few languages now including dialect and mother tongue.

With the huge inflows of foreigners into Singapore, it will inevitably causes crime rates to rise, destruction of culture and the unwillingness of locals to mix around with foreigners, vice versa.

That is precisely why, Japan, a nation proud of their culture and language do not want to import foreign talents, because they know, their culture will be poisoned.

However, in Singapore, it seems that we don't have any issues with this at all.

Yes, we have done well in the past to rise to where we are now, but how much longer are we going to be striving for economic growth when it is costing us our culture and our home? Is it worth it?
