The Alternative View: How does the "Pioneer Generation Package" help the "Tissue Generation", comprising essentially the old or disabled folks we see selling tissues around hawker centres or stationed along MRT walkways?

Does it put food on their table?

The main pillars of the Package involves so-called Government contributions to Medisave and increased subsidies for medical treatments. In terms of hard cash, it limits the handout of $100 per month to those with moderate or severe disabilities.

So if you are not bound to a wheelchair, you don't get the handout. In fact, even if you are bound to a wheelchair and can work, the PAP encourages you to work which explains the minimal amount given out.

So is there really anything radical about the Pioneer Generation Package?

In short, no.
