Ex-CNB chief engaged by Certis Cisco Security

SINGAPORE - Former Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) chief Ng Boon Gay will be starting work at Certis Cisco Security next month.

In response to media queries, the company issued a statement saying Mr Ng will be engaged as a consultant on a short-term contract to help with various aspects of its security business.

Mr Ng, 47, was retired from public service on Jan 29, in a decision made by the Public Service Commission following the conclusion of internal civil service disciplinary proceedings.

He had been charged in June 2012 with four counts of corruptly obtaining oral sex from IT executive Cecilia Sue in 2011, allegedly in exchange for furthering the business interests of her former employers.

He claimed trial and was acquitted on Feb 14 last year.

But during the high-profile trial which began in September 2012, details of his trysts with Ms Sue, a married mother of one, were revealed in court.

District Judge Siva Shanmugam found that Mr Ng had "no ulterior motive" in his intimate relationship with Ms Sue.

Mr Ng joined the police force in 1991 and was formerly Commander, Tanglin Police Division, and director of the Criminal Investigation Department.

He became CNB director in February 2011.
