SINGAPORE: Passengers travelling on a stretch of the North-South line were affected by a train service disruption between the Kranji and Yew Tee MRT stations that lasted about an hour and a half on Saturday afternoon.
Rail operator SMRT said it is likely that a cable fault caused the disruption.

Some passengers on the way to Kranji MRT station had to get off and walk along elevated tracks after train services stalled around 12.30pm.

SMRT said it is likely a cable fault led to a loss in traction power between the Kranji and Yew Tee MRT stations.

The cables supply electricity to the traction power system.

Free bus bridging services then had to be deployed between Woodlands and Yew Tee MRT stations.

Some of the free bus bridging services departed from Choa Chu Kang bus interchange.

Those who boarded bus bridging services there said it was no easy feat getting to Kranji MRT.

They were headed there to catch buses that would ferry them across the Causeway.

One commuter said the bus was very crowded, while another said: "We don't know where we should wait for the bus, we just saw a group of people, and we joined them. There was no proper arrangement, or proper signage to let us know (where we should take the bus)."

=> In other words, nothing has changed with the whole bunch of multi-million-dollar paper generals now in charge! Can anything change for the better under the FAP Traitors, if it has not gotten worse?

The service disruption and large crowds at affected stations meant some ended up missing scheduled appointments.

Yeo Ciu Peng, another affected commuter said: "I booked a ticket back to Malacca but I can't make it in time now. I wanted to take the bus back to Malacca to celebrate my dad's birthday. I wasn't able to, so I'm quite sad about it."

=> No complaint lah! Make SGD and can have 2.5x or more spending power back in kampong!

Others chose to wait it out for almost an hour at the affected train stations for services to resume.

Train services resumed just after 2pm, and the free bus bridging services ceased close to 3pm.

SMRT said its engineers will rectify the issue after operation hours.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) also said it will work with SMRT to investigate the incident.

LTA added that it regrets the inconvenience caused to commuters who had to detrain as well as commuters who were inconvenienced during the service disruption.
