Reputation: 1 (http://www.sammyboy.com/reputation.php?uid=5168) A 32-year-old man, Aung Kyaw Swar Hlaing, was fined $5,000 by the court yesterday (23 Oct) for criminal intimidation and causing hurt.The man was said to be a “cargo specialist”.The court heard that the man was drunk when he barged into a boutique shop at Far East Plaza, clad only in a T-shirt and red underwear, when the shop owner was about to close her shop.The man gestured to the victim to keep quiet but she screamed for help. He then tried to stop her from screaming by pushing the victim further into the shop and pinning her to the ground.During their struggle, a sales associate heard the screams and went to check. The sales associate shouted at the man and the shop owner managed to break free and flee.However, the man then used a mannequin display stand to hit the head of the sales associate three times.Police was called and later, the man was found hiding on the sixth floor, in the fire exit staircase area.In sentencing, District Judge noted that this was the first time the accused broke the law. However, the Judge did point out that if the sales associate did not appear in time, the offence could have been more serious.The man admitted to 3 charges. He could have been jailed for 2 years for criminal intimidation.
