so much has been said about the various types of education systems around the world and how Finland's model seemed a stronger one than Singapore's model, this led to a fair bit of thinking on my part and here's a suggestion.

take the Cambrian explosion for example, seemed as though there was a sudden increase in the number of species of organisms that lived around that time. would it then be possible that other educational models be allowed to grow and flourish in Singapore, i.e. the provision of more private schools to take root in our education landscape, thus increasing the competition for a better working model.

the working models would flourish and the non-working models would die off. sounds crazy in every sense of the word, competition will then in turn drive up the standards of the education system to better suit our evolving needs. re-education is always possible by allowing re-entry of any students into any of the private or MOE-based schools.

what do you think?
