Xie Shaoguang, the award-winning former MediaCorp actor who played iconic Buddhist monk Ji Gong, has become a monk in real life.
The 51-year-old was officially ordained after studying Buddhism in Malaysia for eight years following his retirement from showbiz in 2005.
Xie had his head shaved on Monday and is now known as Shao Guang Shi Xiong (Mandarin for brother) by his peers.
