ARE THE JOBS THAT FOREIGNERS FILL REALLY EXPERIENCING LABOUR SHORTAGES?

I refer to Filipino Customer Service Officer Jailed for Misappropriating Money. Click on http://therealsingapore.com/content/...abeth-hospital (http://therealsingapore.com/content/filipino-customer-service-officer-jailed-misusing-money-mt-elizabeth-hospital)

Another example of foreigners causing trouble in Singapore. Of course, not all foreigners are causing trouble, but as Singaporeans, we should be concerned with what jobs FTs are coming to fill and to make sure they are qualified for the jobs.

For example, Singaporeans have once boycotted Jolibee because Jollibee had previously been hiring only Fillipinos to work there. In the end, due to the public reaction, Jollibee decided to hire more locals. However, there are many other examples before Jolibee came to Singapore.
Parkway Shenton, Parkway Novena, Mount Elizabeth are some of the places where they are infested with Filippinoes. Why did these places escape scrutiny while Jolibee was thrust into the spotlight?

The government always tells us that foreigners are brought into Singapore to full up the jobs that Singaporeans don't want or that there are not enough Singaporeans to fill.

If this was true, then visas should only be granted to people who are coming to fill up the specific jobs that are lacking workers.

For example: in Australia, skilled migration visas are only granted to foreigners who have secured a job in an Australian company that is from a specified industry that is identified by the government as an industry without enough Australians/PRs to fill.

There is an actual list of the industries approved for this scheme and the list if regularly updated to ensure that foreigners are only taken in to fill jobs that actually experience a shortage of workers.

As long as open-ended visas are given to foreigners to come and find work in Singapore, it is clearly not the case that MOM is only bringing in FTs that Singapore needs.
