The Health Sciences Authority (HSA) on Tuesday issued an advisory alerting the public about three illegal health products containing undeclared medicinal ingredients.
The three are Li Long Mei Guo Mo Bang, Africa Black Ant and Ginseng Tu Chong Wan Lin Heong.
Users of Li Long Mei Guo Mo Bang and Africa Black Ant, which are promoted as products for sexual enhancement, are advised to stop taking them immediately. They were found to contain sildenafil which is used to treat erectile dysfunction. The statement said a man had suffered from a heart attack and stroke after taking the Li Long Mei Guo Mo Bang.
Those who have taken the Ginseng Tu Chong Wan Lin Heong, purportedly to treat arthritis and joint pain, are advised to consult the doctor immediately. The product contains Dexamethasone, a prescription-only medicine which can cause symptoms such as high blood pressure and muscular and bone disorders if taken without doctor's supervision.
