The ad hoc manner in which the $8 Minister is dishing out housing "policies" is a real cause for concern. There does not seem to be a holistic approach to the bigger issue. What he is doing now is to make announcements in dribs and drabs targetted at various groups. There is no big, overall strategic approach on how they are going the lick the problems. Today's papers reported that HDB price increases have outpaced that of private condos, but hey, it's okay, we have $16,000 apartments for you.

So, this week, it is flats for singles. Next week? Flats for female divorcees?

In the meantime, all this releasing of BTOs etc is just trying to pull wool over everyone's eyes. They talk as if the number of flats in any newly announced BTOs will be available very shortly, when it is going to be years.

So, as has been said many times before, the civil service is too highly rated, alongside their ministers.

Unless it is just a ploy so that the PM can retort in his national day speech that home prices are really cheap, along side our healthcare services.
Imagine, one can have 2,000 heart operations for that kind of money.
