http://www.tremeritus.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/low-thia-kiang.jpgSpeaking to reporters before his weekly Meet-the-People session this evening (10 Jul), WP chief Low Thia Kiang said he stood by the party’s earlier investigation, which showed that Aljunied Town Council (AHPETC) had never asked for additional money (http://www.sammyboy.com/#) to clean the high areas of the 2 hawker centres in Aljunied GRC.

He said Vivian’s claims were “baseless”.

He also dismissed Vivian’s statement that he did not defend party comrades Sylvia Lim and Pritam Singh in Parliament.

Yesterday evening (9 Jul), after the parliamentary exchange in the afternoon, Vivian went back to further post a message on his Facebook, rambling on about the AHPETC cleaning issue (‘The core issue is integrity – Hawkers vs AHPETC (http://www.tremeritus.com/2013/07/09/vivian-accuses-sylvia-lim-of-being-untruthful-over-ahpetc-cleaning-issue/)‘). It’s as if he wanted to have the final say and win (http://www.sammyboy.com/#) the argument at all cost – probably due to his “training” as a debater in his school days.
Vivian wrote:
“Mr Low Thia Kiang argued that it was all ‘a misunderstanding’. But interestingly he did not strongly defend the Town Council’s actions, or Ms Lim and Ms Singh’s public denials.”
Mr Low said Minister Balakrishnan may not have heard him well, because his opening words in Parliament were that he “agreed” with Ms Lim.
Mr Low added that no further investigations would be carried out, despite calls from Vivian in Parliament yesterday for Mr Low to conduct an “internal investigation” into the matter.

Asked what he thought of the Minister waiving parliamentary privilege, which indirectly meant Vivian is posing a challenge to WP leaders to sue him if they thought he had defamed them when he accused them of being “untruthful” over the whole cleaning issue, Mr Low referred to a recent comment by PM Lee that Singapore needs to get its politics right.

Mr Low said he does not think making personal attacks and challenging others to sue one another constitute good politics.
But perhaps this is exactly what PAP would consider good politics by suing people? This is especially so when one goes through decades of lawsuits PAP politicians brought against opposition members and others.

What do you think?
