USB 3.0 - I'm impressed

An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:

Just bought Western Digital portable hard disk 2T for Mac. I was hesitant to buy this because it does not have the Apple Thunderbolt connection unlike the Buffalo 1T that I am using now. Salesman told me that Thunderbolt is obviously faster than USB but the USB 3.0 is not very far from Thunderbolt while Thunderbolt cost a lot more due to the licensing of this technology by Apple. My 1T Buffalo portable disk with Thunderbolt cost like $270 and this new 2T WD portable disk with USB 3.0 is only $199.

I just tried it copying an 8G file olm format of my outlook backup it too about 1min and 15sec. Impressed.

Then I copied my iTunes folder which is 21.44G it took only slightly more than 4mins. Very impressed indeed.

Of course if I really want to compare with Thunderbolt I will need to do it when in Thailand however even at this speed I am very happy, beats the USB 2.0. Am a happy man now.
