Bro - relax... Beijing is quite safe if you follow common sense rules. I've been there many times, and often on my own.

The thing is, China men truly treats their women like furniture; no respect, and absolutely no consideration. Be a nice gentleman, and you'll get more than you bargain for.

What I typically do is to take the morning flight, which gets you to BJ around 4pm. Check into the hotel, have dinner, and then head on off either to San Li Tun, or Picadally's.
