Bro sdt7971,

I have intention to visit Laos for short trip.
I was told by my thai counterpart that Laos people are very polite due to their culture. Is this true ?

So how was the chionging scene over there ? was it fun.

I personally think that BKK, HCM, JKT are too commerialize as there are lots of tourist whereas laos is still consider rural area.

Lao people are very nice, just like Isan people in Thailand are nice. The only scums are tuk tuk drivers. Many tuk tuk drivers in Vientiane are sharks just like Bangkok. When you pick up a girl and call the tuk tuk to go back hotel, they will try to slice you to pieces because you have no way to get back.

The scene in Vientiane has changed a lot in 10 years. My first trip about 10 years ago and then go there once a year or 2, the scene has become now very commercialized just like Thailand. There are pick up joints all over the city, karaokes like long established Anou, Mekong, Lang Xiang and many more newer ones in other hotels as well, and discos like Penguin Club, Pen Boran, Future and many more new ones on the main road as Novotel. The scene is no longer like few years back, it is very commercialized and majority of working girls are all money money just like in Pattaya or BKK.

And in fact the price is more expensive than Thailand, girls in karaoke and discos want 1200-2000 ST or 40-65USD, can pay either one. Plus a beer or two and sometimes a tip to mamasan or waiter, plus expensive tuk tuk back to your hotel at night, they all ask you for 5USD, but usually can pay less than 3, at night, they all really jack up the price especially with a lady, i hate that.

My last trip 2 months back, had many tuk tuk tried to extort me at night when I tried to take my lady from club or disco back to hotel, and when I waved the other tuk tuk, he would tell the other tuk tuk not to lower the price.

The quality also decreased year after year, i think cuties are taken up more and more by local rich guys, so fewer and fewer on the meat market. But there are still some cuties in karaokes and discos, but the service is very inconsistent, many girls have no service, but still demand 40 USD or more.

Vientiane or Laos is nice travel destination, but come all the way here just for pounding, to me does not justified, it is better to come here for a nice holiday and hunting girls as supplementary fun, that's the way I make my Lao trips.

hey bro..i know some laos..Let me share with u some a list of polite Lao words or polite participles that are tacked on to the end of sentences to make them sound softer/more polite.:)

Dok: i.e. Bor Bpen Nyang, Dok. (it doesn't matter) / Thai equivalent is "Na Ka/Krup".

Der: i.e. Bpai Ap Nam, Der. (go take a shower please) / Thai equivalent is "Na Ka/Krup"

Doi (younger person) = Yes / Thai equivalent is "Ka/Krup"

Jaow (same age or older person) = Yes / Thai equivalent is "Ka/Krup"

I love that the Lao language is so multi-dimensional when it comes to addressing someone in a polite manner.

Naw: i.e. Ngaam Tae Naw? (it's pretty, isn't it?)

Ka Pra Jao (very formal) = I

Tan = You

Pun = Him/Her

Taan = Eat

Peuan = Friend

Sabai dee bro magna27...laotians are hospitable, friendly and soft people. They have a very relaxed attitude to life. You should have no troubles navigating Lao culture and interacting with locals as long as you use your head, eyes and your common sense.

It is not acceptable to touch Lao people's heads, so bear that in mind.
