Frankly speaking, I don't think there is much to see in Guilin now. Perhaps the park there is worth a visit (er....i meant healthy sight-seeing). I will probably settle down at Yang Shou to relax for a couple of days.

IMHO, I think it is not very nice to "spoilt the market". Like JB, it used to be a cheap get-away for us. But, as a result of excessive tipping, it is no longer a cheap place for fun anymore. Batam is another place where ppl had overtipped the gals there. When I started cheonging there, the gals will ask you to buy this and that and when they leave, they will ask for "taxi-fare" plue a tip. This is what happened when you are too generous to them.

Since you are at Guilin and Yanagshou, I have these places for you:

West Street is a popular tourists and locals' pasar malan street in Yangshuo, you should be able to locate this place.

Yangshuo red light district
The red light district is one the first street parallel to the main road. From the bus terminal you walk in the opposite direction from West Street. You walk through a parking lot where there are some shops then you end up on a small street. You will see the red lights. Late evening after 10pm if you will to walking up and down West Street in front of KFC you will be approached by a tout. She had a couple of girls delivered by motorcycle withing minutes for you to choose from. Price is between RMB200 to 400 ST. Std for local RM200.

Yang Shou BBS
There is a roundabout just as you come into town and a main road that goes straight down to the river. There are 3 BBS within 100 meters from the roundabout headed into town. Each had 2-5 girls. The girls were very friendly, but the service was just OK - 130RMB ST on site. The BBS across the street is cheaper - 100 RMB ST, but lacks in quality.

Definitely alright if simply walking around and enjoy the sights. But might be little too cold since there many water rides. Overall, a unique place in China, must visit.

In Guilin u just walk around alone beside the river or hang around outside the Elephant Hotel (where lots of Koreans stay), the aunty (mamasan) will approach you.

whenever there's demand, there's supply.

first i must apologize that the FR here is strictly abt touring Guilin/Yangshuo ..
not able to provide any information abt where to cheong or find mm's becoz my gal was with me in this trip ...

In Guilin .. the popular and most attraction places r in Yangshuo ...
thus spend more time in Yangshou ...
u'll get to see more beautiful natural sceneries here ...

This is the small hotel that i stayed in Yangshuo ...
honestly i kinda of regret selecting this hotel becoz it's really like a motel or budget hotel ... anyway, we managed to stay on for the next 3 days ...
the hotel location is good ... it's just a stone throw away from West Street ... a popular shopping street with many restaurants, pubs, shops and clubs...

九寨沟 in oct is a bit cold, but there is a five day period in Oct when 九寨沟 is at it best.

Instead joining a tour group or taking the shuttle bus provided by 九寨沟 which is a bit of rush; you should hook up with a 藏族 resident of 九寨沟 and tour 九寨沟 in your own private car with a licensed 藏族 resident guide.

Recommended hotel is Sheraton of course.:p 3day 2night is more than sufficient. You can fly direct to 九寨沟九黄机场 from chengdu.

It like cherry blossom in Japan; you will only know the exact date about 1 month before. It is usual around 10 to 25 Oct. There is only a window of less 1 week, when the leave turn red before dropping off. During these few days, I am told 九寨沟 is the most beautiful.

During this period, hotel rate are about 3 time its usual rate. Eg. Sheraton normally is about 700, this period is around 2000-3000. But you CK this should still very cheap. ;) LOL

And the flight from Chengdu to 九寨沟 though is less than 1hr cost as much if not more than the fare from SZ to beijing. Make sure you get the window seat, as the airport is curved out and on top of two very high mountain. It view is very spectacular.

九寨沟 alone 3 days is more than enough. But there are plenty of other places to vist nearby.


So please take many photo to share with us;as clearly most of us here cannot afford to go 九寨沟 during these few days.

Only resident car are allowed in 九寨沟, you will need some effort and a little luck to secure a pte car.

The view from both side are equally good.

Pte Car are not allow in 九寨沟 unless they are owned by a resident of 九寨沟. So you cannot rent a car in the city or even from the hotel because they are not allow 九寨沟. You need to find a car that is owned by a resident in 九寨沟. Only their cars are allowed in 九寨沟. Only they can drive you around in the resort.

Two ways to arrange this.

First way is more suitable for a man of your status. A friends of mine, organise a corporate outing for his VIP client. VIP outing all the way. Just approach any major tour company that specialise in incentive tour, they will arrange all the details. You just sit back and enjoy....and do not forget to invite all your frinds here..hahha

Second- is probably not suit for you. Anyway now is too early, come sep after you have cfm your date and in the very unlikely event that you decided to travel cheapskate class, you can PM me and we see if my contact/China HP is still alive......

across li jiang river to yangshou.

in yangshou you can find Xi jie (western street)

you can ask around at nite and there should be many happenings

ok just returned from Yangshuo

u can fly there from Guanzhou (many flgihts a day) or Shenzhen (1 flight a day) or even from KL (Airasia on Tues, THurs and Saturdays)

Beautiful place with great scenery and affordable accomodations and food

West Street is their Orchard Road and at night so many bars and pubs open ... dancer can sit with you for about 300rmb but no guarantee that can tabao

No fear, alot of female and male pimps roaming West Street advertising their goods and services ..... seems like 260ST and 400 O/N .... can see selection first then pay direct to the girl after the deed once you decide on one .... or maybe half deposit to pimp first (all stock can bring back to your hotel)

Walked around town also after the sightseeing and found the following places

Attached next to Yangshuo New Century Hotel is a 'massage' joint ... place looks run-down and fish tank style .... ST is a scary 160RMB ... i did not try

The little street BEHIND Rainbow Hotel (0773-8811198) is full of BBS of older variety (mid 20s and up) .... stock quality is OK if you like them direct from village and never been to big city type .... just tell cab driver or ask direction to Bilian Lu (very near 10-13min walk from West Street towards bus terminal)

This is my first trip to Guilin and yes, action is everywhere. In the area around LiJiang Waterfall hotel, there are several saunas and KTVs and on the pedestrian street for shopping nearby, there are many OKT giving contact cards. However, I only manage to try the sauna as, firstly it was a very busy trip and secondly too much drinking with biz partners during dinner. I am not a heavy drinker and by the time dinner is over I was too drunk to do anything already..:mad:
