It's propecia.

This medicine is design for males or male pattern hair loss. It is proven to be effective in long term. But there are some side effects that comes with the results. One of them being decrease libido. But there are also some males who do not experience that.

Please see your family doctor for more information and the proper use of the medication.

before starting to take propecia, please consult your doctor

i) Its effect is visible in long term.
ii) there are claims that it reduces libido
iii) in any case, it has worked only for 10% of the people. And in this mass of 10%, for few, balding started again when they left taking it.

one of our SBF bro here whom i knew for years took PROPECIA since year 2000.

He was then 30yo and look more like 40s, and now he is already 40yo but look like 30s. In between he got married, have kid and frenquently "Cheong" together with us, he is also known to have high sex drive, so i trust it is a good drug for male pattern hair loss. Some bros here know who i referring to.

You can also try Audace, its a shampoo. Problem with pills is you tend to forget to take them regularly, shampoo is easier. Audace is sold in pharmacies and Guardian, so it should be safe and effective.

Tried a prorin (not sure of the spelling) from Nature Farm.

Just ask the staff there. Have been using it for the last 4 years. Just bought another 2 bottles last week.

No side effect, everything natural. Safe and good.
Results wonderful.

Some years ago I bought a bottle of XXXX brand hair lotion that claimed to promote new hair growth after losing the old hair.

I tried, and after losing half a head of hair, I panicked and stopped using it. Now I am still struggling to get back my thick turf of hair.:mad::mad:

Guys,

Actually, there is a substitute for Propecia. The active ingredient of Propecia is Finasteride and can also be found in another medicine called Proscar. Propecia is a spin off from Proscar as Proscar contains 5mg of Finasteride while Propecia is only 1mg.

Proscar is commonly used to treat the enlargement of the prostrate glands which are only found in men. Thus, you will notice that Propecia is only used for hair loss treatment for men. Doctors using Proscar to treat patients found that it also induces hair growth, and that caused the Propecia spin off.

Anyway, you can buy Proscar for about 30% of the cost of Propecia for a month's treatment. A box of about 28 tablets will cost about SGD$100.00 but you can cut it into 4 or 5 pieces, meaning it would last you 4 to 5 months if you take it daily.

I started off on Propecia and am now on Proscar, there is no difference and no damage to libido. I have 3 kids since taking Propecia, so that should be proof?? I have been on Propecia since 2004 and till now, no side effects. GPs normall scorn when they hear that I am using Proscar as you are basically depriving them from profits from the sale of Propecia. One GP even told me that Propecia is time released and Proscar is not, which is BS.

Hope this helps!! Cheers!

My personal experience. I took Propecia for almost 18 months, no visible improvement, my hair still dropped considerably during the trial.

And, I was not even properly advised that, this pill has to be taken on a long term basis, and if you stop the consumption, your hair condition might get worse. But, the Doctor did say it might affect your sex libido.

Well.. after 18 months, I just stopped the consumption - hack care!

Hair loss can be due to many causes :

Sleeping late; Lack of essential nutrients in the diet; Stress and worries; Too frequent washing of hair; using the unsuitable type of shampoo; poor health and old age.

My case is unique. Using the wrong type of hair growth lotion.

Hi bros

I took propecia in year 2002 but stopped after 1 month as i lost my libido totally and have ED(affect small % of men as stated in the manual). Its a hormone drug i think.

My GP quoted me $100/box when i need new supply of propecia recently...

WTF!! So i decided to seek alternative sources. Asked my fren to ask in thailand, only about 1200B. Which is about $50. Then I went over to the causeway to ask the pharmacy there, about $65/box. So decided to get a few boxes from JB first then buy somemore in thailand. :)

Next round I will buy Proscar and use pill splitter to divide into 4 portions. Save even more $$$

I have used propecia for a few years and after seeing improvement, I stopped using for about 2 years. Lately notice hair getting lesser, so decided to take propecia again. :D

a point to note for Proscar.. pls be careful when splitting it into 4 portions..

was told by my doc that it has an adverse effect on women (thus it is proscar or propecia is not prescibed to women for hair problems).. so if there are women folks at your home, do not let them have contact with your medicine..

otherwise, proscar is definately a cheaper alternative to propecia..

Well, let's say that it did stop the thinning hair but it may not help to activate hair growth to its normal level. If you stop the medication, you will notice considerably more hair drop than normal.

On it's effectiveness, I can say that it actually does help hair growth at various places apart from your head!! It may work for me, but I am not sure how its affect is for you guys. One thing for sure is that it is not a miracle medicine. If you start the treatment, you are looking at consuming it long term!

Cheers!

Yes, PROSCAR is definitely cheaper than PROPECIA. A box of 28's Proscar will probably cost $125 while a box of 28's Propecia is $98. A lot of my friends are actually taking Proscar (splitting the tablet into 4) instead of Propecia because of the pricing.

But as what Bro Spud_Boy said, you really need to be very careful when handling the tablets. NOT to be handle by women, especially PREGNANT women as it may cause ABNORMALITIES of the external genitalia of the male foetus.:eek::eek:

Regarding the decreased of libido, some of my friends do have this problem when others don't. But, they are now happily taking Cialis as well. :p

Hi bro Flagship,

U can refer to Bro Gajah tread, he say it all, it does help some in terms of hair growth, but most importantly it help many in maintaining their hair loss.

One of the only few USA scientifically proven formular that grows hair & stop hair loss.

One thing for sure, to be effective, you must continue for life, unless new methods to prevent hair loss is invented.

Cheers & have fun.

Maybe U guys can check out this Vitamin called BIOTIN - It'll helped on hair loss !....Also it'll be good that you do not have a permanent parting in your hair style as that we affect that area on your head, where it'll expose your hair loss more !!!....

My buddy living Hong Kong shared with me that there lots of hair treatment shops there because many HK guys in their 30s are having hair loss problems !...Think must their diet - they enjoy having their breakfast set - instant noodle with egg & sausage & char siew rice shops with their daily soups with lots of MSG in it !....And of course,it really stressful life there too !!!

I've been experiencing hair loss for the past few years.

Consumed Propecia for over 6 mths, and then stopped doing so as I had to go overseas for several months. The doc also said I could stop consuming it.
I doubt there was any visible improvement when I was using Propecia, but anyway it was only for about 6 mths so perhaps it was too short for any effect to take place.

Well, sad to say, my hair loss has worsened ever since I got back (more than a yr ago), although that could be because I did not continue with Propecia. No particular reason, just did not.

On another note, I've been reading up on the link between masturbation and hair loss. The experts' opinion seems divided, but in my case, there seems to be some connection. Well I masturbate twice daily, so I really wonder if this is making it worse.
Any bros here care to share their experiences about this?

I am also a night person so that could be another factor. I usually sleep around 4am daily as my schedule permits me to do so.
Nevertheless I still get around 7hrs of sleep.

Other than that, I try to keep a healthy lifestyle: i.e. diet, exercise.
Am pretty conscious than this.

It's quite painful to be balding when you are just in your 20s.
And seeing men much older than me with a thick head of hair just compounds the misery.
Bro Frankenstein, at least you still have hair :)

sorry if this post has been long, just sharing my thoughts.
