Hotel 81 vs Fragrance Hotel. Which Do U Prefer ?

Just wanna start a poll on which one you prefer for the two most popular budget hotels in Singapore.

The following are what i observed, please feel free to comment on your preferred budget hotel and your reasons.

But then... I had spent so much more time at Bright star then all this other hotels..

I had never been a fan of Fragrance. Only tried once and left a very bad impression. It was Selegie Fragrance. I booked for 2hrs short time and straight away was assigned a room at the 1st level. The ceiling was so low that it appears I'm in a bomb shelter. Kept away ever since.:mad:

It still like Fragrance Hotel......Cause most of the Staff are friendly Vs Hotel 81 ba...... and the room more like clean

Me too. Waiting time is top priority.
If can get a room without having to wait too long then I go for it liao. :D

I totally agree abt the membership thingy.
Always ask me to join member even though I joined long time ago liao.
Somehow they have no record of membership and keep asking everytime
you visit them. Funny system they have. :rolleyes:

hmmm, i go to enjoy the company so which hotel is not very important... other factors like location is sometimes more crucial. ohhh, H81's mirror rooms is a big plus point. hehehe :D

I prefer Hotel81 whenever I need an overnite bonk. The hotels in Joo Chiat are my 'training grounds'. :D So far, I have been to Fragrance Hotel only twice. After that, I switched to Hotel81 and never go back again. In my view, Fragrance Hotel is less properly maintained than Hotel81.

=> I recalled the last time i used Fragrance near HarbourFront,you need to register unliked Hotel 81 the check in takes only 5mins max !...So U are hardly seen in the lobby area !...

=> Always avoid those popular Hotel 81 on weekend liked Bugis,where's there's a long queue !

=> Can anyone explain why Hotel 81 Bencoolen transit rate is $30 instead of $20 ? And the rooms badly need renovations ! Thanks !

One month later I go Elegance81, they ask me to join again. :rolleyes:
They say no records leh. :(

Latest Update : Hotel 81 @ Jalan Sultan is now getting to be popular vs the past few months where i enjoyed easy access without any waiting time needed ! Earlier there were so many "Uncles" with their PRC gal frens !....Really liked tis 81 because it's "homely feel" !...And i always prefer the 2/F where the bedroom & especially the bathroom are larger but less mirrors,they probably more for hotel guest & not transit users liked me ! :D

The new Hotel81 hotels are much better compared to Fragrace Hotels which are normally smaller in szie. :)

However, Hotel81 always have this membership issues with customers. :(

the last time i went to kovan fragrance - i was told to even wait for registration and ask me to wait in the lobby for 15 min. At least H81 will call u while u are outside when the room is ready!. keep it up H81.

Hotel81 got many hotels islandwide. More convenient than Fragrance.
I like the newer ones which are more spacious and nicely renovated. :)

He is looking at less then SGD100 per day.

Generally i like 81 more. Looks more organised and the check in time is super fast. Personally my best recommendation is hotel81(dickson). The lobby itself is nice liao. The rooms are clean, with nice deco and mirrors, the shower is also big with one side of is being translucent (tinted glass). Gives it a more "high class" feel.

Too bad i duno where to "fish" in Bugis area, if not dickson will definitely be my lovenest.

Fragrance is also not bad, just that i find their check in time far too long. Their shower floor also not v nice.. feels more budget lah. The deco not that nice but definitely homely.

But all in all these 2 are the best chains lah, cheap and good. I got go before hotels that are $30/2hr den the room is small, den the shower is like swimming pool like that. very run down (but too bad the other 2chains are too far for me to accomplish my "mission" swiftly)

Anw CPTMiller, think you can go to hotel81 webbie (just google it) and there's a list of all their hotels. Most are below the price that u asking for.. jus need to determine the location nia. Those in chinatown area will be good i guess.

The new Value Hotel in balestier is nice, very clean and everything is new. Only $89 per night with windows. Hope this info help.
